Camber arms LOUD ??

I installed SPL front camber arms on the 370z this weekend. Got an alignment done. It sounds like my tires are rubbing on the fender liners. - Or is this

Exclamation Camber arms LOUD ??

  1. I installed SPL front camber arms on the 370z this weekend.
  2. Got an alignment done.
  3. It sounds like my tires are rubbing on the fender liners.
  4. - Or is this increased noise what happens when you replace the OEM control arm rubber bushings with aluminum bushings in the SPL?

Alignment Specs:
== Front ==
  • Camber: -2.0
  • Caster: 5.1
  • Toe: 0.08
== Rear ==
  • Camber: -1.8
  • Toe: 0.12

Drive you car for a good bit and check to see if your tires are rubbing the fenders, if that's not the case its totally normal due to the metal bushings.

My initial squeaks and clunks went away after I drove her really hard and replacing most of my bushings with SPL they started to squeak again after about six months so I took into my shop and had them lube everything as best they could and it all went away.

The mechanic that works on my Z said the front A-arms reminded him of those on trophy trucks and that there is no go way to grease them but he did the best he could. He did the whole whole suspension as had number of squeaks and clunks, because SPL...$45 and done.

How loud are we talking about? Most likely it's nothing, but road noise increase from just the FUCA shouldn't be so much that causes concern...your car is still stock arms and springs all around except for the SPL FUCA yea?

I replaced a few arms and coilovers, then switch back to stock, then back to all SPL arms and coilovers. I could tell the difference in noise level, but nothing severe enough to make me think something is rubbing.

I've never notice any increase in noise with my SPL arms and lower bearings. Maybe because of my exhaust set-up. I lube my bearings with a spray lube, because there is no grease fittings to do otherwise.

I had a few clunks after my front SPL arms were installed, to the point where I brought it back to the shop. They checked it out (probably knowing nothing was wrong, but to shut me up) and informed me these are performance parts. NV&H are not part of performance. So yes, normal.

Your camber and toe numbers are almost exactly what most recommend (-2.0/-1.5 and .04/.08).

Is there a torque spec for the bolts that hold the A-arm on?

- I used the German torque spec of "gutentite".

::Partial Resolution::

Possible Issue
I had found the spherical bushing had been spun all the way clock-wise (on the arm side). I presume this had happened when the alignment guys were tinkering.

The Fix:
Re-centered the arm on the spherical bushing
Removed the bolts that hold the SPL arm to the frame and applied a liberal coating of White Lithium, then re-tightened said bolts.

The Result
I do believe i have significantly reduced the HUMMMMMMMMM noise i previously had.

Just a note for those who have noise issues like myself
