Default GTR brake conversion?

If someone could please help me out that would be great. My buddy has a set of stock GTR brake calipers and rotors (front and rear) he is willing to sell me for very cheap. I just need to know if they will fit on my 370 and what else I would need to change in order to make them fit, lines, master cylinder, ect? Also would I need new wheels to accommodate the larger calipers and rotors?

Are they a brand new set? Reason I ask is that a brake job on a GTR is no joke....costs some serious $$$$ flow...close to $5G's....They change out the entire brake system replacing calipers, rotors pads, etc....they don't just change out the pads and resurface the rotors....Might be the reason why ur getting a good price on this set.....

Also what year is it.....prior to 2012 the GTR brakes are 380 mm (390mm 2012+), and consist of 6 piston calipers at the front and 380 mm, 4 piston calipers at the rear. The smallest set up I've read up on that cleared the brake set on a GTR are 18 's but they have to be the correct offset.....The ones I read up on were VOLK TE-37 18 X 9.5 +22 (Front) 18 X 10.5 +15 (Rear). This is clearing on a GTR chassis though....I'm not sure if the mod of this brake system on a Z Chassis would make a difference...... I personally would go with an aftermarket break system upgrade for the Z to avoid the headache of converting. ...I highly doubt this is a simple swap out. ....

Finding out what is involved in doing a BBK upgrade specifically for the Z would be a good starting point. If any additional parts/mods are needed with these kits, swapping to the GTR brakes may just need the same parts/mods as other brands.

The question is whether or not the GTR kit is compatible with the Z34 hubs. It may well be, but if not, you're probably better off with a third party kit like the one from AP Racing. Clearance may be an issue as well, you will be safer if you have 19" wheels (e.g. Sport package)

Wink

If you search back a few years. You might find where this was talked about before. If I remember right. It's not a bolt-up job. You have have to get adapters made. It was just easier to get AP, Brembo, etc that was made to fit the Z.

GT-R Brakes

See post from AP rep

Not direct bolt on and issue with brake bias basically.
Rusty and Brendan like this.

Default GTR breaking version

The GTR the brakes are off of is a 2014 premium with 6k miles on it. OMG no way they change all that for every break job wow. Sounds like I might look into investing in aftermarket brake kit this seems like the better route from what you guys have told me. I'll continue to research this and post what I find out. Thanks for the help guys!!!

It's been done before.

NISMObOmoriFactorybZ AT PROJECT

If it's good enough for the guys at NISMO Omori Factory... lol. Omori Factory likes putting R35 GT-R Brembos on everything from 370z to R32/R33/R34 GT-R. If I remember correctly, they sell a kit or something like that to make the R35 Brembos work but keep in mind that anything from Omori Factory = $$$.

OK thanks I didn't even know that place existed Lol. Let me know if you can find the link for that kit you're talking about, i've been looking on the site for 20 minutes now and I can't seem to find it just rotors, pads and lines so far.

The thing about Omori Factory is that they prefer to do in house installs. This is why there aren't that many parts listed on their website and most of them don't even have a price. In Japanese, they even mention that they don't sell pieces, but rather, the full kit in whole and you should contact them to request pricing for the stuff installed. This obviously doesn't work for us since we're stateside, but I'm sure they'll sell the package as a whole if you email them.

Something else interesting is that Z runs Ohlins coilovers. Ohlins doesn't make off the shelve coilovers for 370z. This thing got some custom goodness!
