Groove on driver side rotor
I upgrade my rotors to the Z1 two piece set about 1-2k miles ago, and today I noticed there is a groove being cut into the rotor on the driver side only.
I've attached some pictures of both sides to compare. I was hoping someone might have an idea what's causing this, and if I should address it, and how? Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide. Driver side: Passenger Side:

Now that I see these pictures side by side like that, the front has a lot more un-even or excessive wear than the passenger side does...

Grooves like that are usually formed when your brake pads have worn down and the metal rivets are contacting the rotor surface. However, looking at the place on your rotors that seems a little bit high to be a rivet.
The first thing you should do is check to see if your pads are so worn that a rivet is poking through. Otherwise, I agree with the previous post that may be a rock for some for material is stuck between the rotor and your pads.

I would pull those pads out and see how they are worn.

Thanks for the help guys.
Is it possible that one side is working harder than the other, or do they balance automatically? Im not sure why the passenger side looks so good (almost new), but the driver side looks so bad. These brakes only have 2k'ish miles on them...

To get rid of the groove. You will have to machine the rotor. And file down the high spot ridge on the pad. The groove could be caused by a soft area around the rotor, or a hard spot on the pad.
