Car too low for Alignment Question
Ok guys I recently did my own suspension. Went with BC racing coilovers. I now need an alignment. Sears told me they might not be able to get the car on their lift if too low.
Where do some of you get your cars aligned? I still need to make some height adjustments and want to make sure I am able to get it properly aligned. The stock wheels stayed on so I did not install any aftermarket camber kits and so forth as so I was told, unless I went with larger than 18" rims (which is what I currently have on). Any input will be greatly appreciated. Before Drop: After Drop:

Yep and when calling around just volunteer the information that the car sits low, most will know what to do.

Call around to local Firestone or the likes. They usually have a lifetime alignment deal for like $200. Ask if they are low car friendly. They will let you know.

As others have suggested, call around. The place I use has adjustable ramps on the alignment machine. A stock 370Z was no problem and it looked like the ramps went out farther. Just noticed you are in a small town (I lived down the road in Morris back in the 1970's ), so you may have to expand your search to a larger town.

This is what I did. The local Nissan dealership has one and they were easy to work with all the stuff I had on it. I am also a tad bit lower too and mine came out how i wanted it. But you will need a camber arm in the rear and probably toe bolts to get it in anything safe and not phucking retarded camber.

Search for a place that does alignments for track cars. I took mine to Texas Track Works in Ft. Worth for my alignment. They did an awesome job and can accommodate very low race cars and track cars.

Hey Sounds familiar, Needed an alignment after putting new tires on the Z. while I haven't lowered the car, I did change out the front bumper cover to a NISMO. Went to 3 shops The first two Boneheads Attempted to put on the machine until I stopped them. The 3rd shop had some intelligence, Just look at the car and sent me to his other shop that had the alignment machine lowered into a pit. Just rolled the car on to problem.
The best part is after the alignment the car felt much better. |
