OEM brake pad question
So I burnt through a set of MX-72's finally last weekend. Amazing pad, but they were toast after 20-30some track days on them.
The only thing I had available were my OEM pads, however, I noticed 2 things about the rear pads and had a few questions about them: 1. I noticed that on the rear pads, one of them has a small metal clip/marker. What is this for? I also noticed one of them is marked AP I think and one is marked AK or something. I am assuming one of them goes on the inside and one of them goes on the outside. Can you tell me which one? I know this seems basic, but I have never installed the OEM pads before and the my Endless MX-72's don't have this little metal piece. 2. ON my rear pads I only had shims on the outside pad. Is this normal? Am I missing 2 shims? TY

I'll post on my own thread then :P.
Last night as I searched around the garage, I did in fact find 2 more shims hiding in the corner. So the rear brakes do have 4 shims total-even though I hadn't been using 2 of them for the last year and a half. I did not ever come up with any good explanation as to what the two metal tabs on the OEM pads are for, or what they indicate. I installed them both on the outside side of the rotor. All seems fine.

You should have a shim backing on each pad, so 4 total in the rear. The metal tabs are audible replacement indicators that make contact when pads are nearing the end of their life.
