Best way to paint your brake calipers?
I plan on painting my brake calipers in 2 weeks. Few questions though regarding which paint I should use and the process.
Is plasti dip okay? If not, what should I buy? How many coats do I need to put and how much wait time in between? Any other steps/suggestions I should know before I start in 2 weeks? |

lol... plasti-shittt on brakes?
i would use dedicated caliper paint or powdercoat, but if those are base brakes just leave them stock. no need to show off cheap metal cast..unless they are rusted or something nasty. |

for powercoat i suggest checking with Mike. he's a vendor here.
for caliper paint you can buy them at your local auto parts store, even check Amazon. Engine enamel will also work if you cant find any locally for some reason. |

Does that look about right? How many cans will I need for all 4? How many coats per caliper? Wait time in between each coat? |

yah, that looks right. probably wont need more than a can, but good to have extra than too little so id get 2 just in case.
btw, ive had rustolium spray cans leak after a while in storage. be sure to keep it in a large plastic container after use |

I'm getting mine done at body shop since I am getting other stuff done too. I looked at a few videos on YouTube.
General idea masking and you won't have a ton of time since it dries quick. Make sure you clean them good. If you look on Amazon the product commonly bought together are VHT caliper cleaner, VHT clear and whatever color paint you want the calipers Amazon also has full kits with everything you need for all four calipers I'd get at least one extra can of that color to be safe. There a few videos I'd look at. From my reading powder coating and painting have pro's and cons.

Plasti-dip? Seriously? Do you even know what that is? If so, you'd never think of using it in the application you are describing. As for wait time between coats, it is printed on every can of spray paint I've ever seen in my life. Just read the directions and go for it. You'll figure it out. You're a big boy.
