Custom Koni's ProParts USA
I just wanted to share my setup with everyone as I could not find any post or pics of custom koni's for a 370z just a 350z. Figure we should start sharing these setups to give others ideas.
My goal was to find a suspension that was from a good brand, was popular among autocrossers, had linear spring rates and would be reliable enough for me to daily drive. The end result, I started with a used set of koni yellows and then had some magic done by Jeff at proparts usa. This setup has shortened front and rear shocks, adjustable koni sleeves on the front shocks, pillow ball top mounts, and 750/600lb hypercoils. This will be my autox setup so hopefully the spring rates will be good enough for double duty. Also just to get rid of the annoyance of adjusting the rears I had the rear koni adjusters changed from the sweep style to the knob style. It was really cheap to have this done and saves me from jacking the car up all the time. Now enough talking here are some pics of my Koni Blacks. Hope this helps anyone else who is thinking about a custom setup. I think this setup should be able to keep up with the KW v3 considering that its linear, stiffer springs and pillowball top hats. 750/600 lb\in springs and helper springs for the rears Megan racing high/low adjusters Megan racing tophats Adjusters for the rear is now on the top so I can reach it from the trunk

Nice..looking forward to the report after you use them. So how much more do the modifications cost to do this?

If you get a used set of konis for cheap like I did the out the door cost will be less than KW v3's by a few hundred bucks. I think that's a pretty good deal considering that its customizable to any spring rate you want and does not reuse factory tophats.

Thnx I see your setup is coming along nicely as well with the 30 series.
I will post an update on how it drives next month. I won't get to autox it until march though. I am starting to get antsy.

Here is a breakdown: Front shocks
Rear shock
I chose this setup because I wanted linear springs and not progressive and wanted the ability to go up/down on spring rates to tune the car the way I want. This seems to be a pretty popular setup with the 350z autox guys so I figured I would give it a shot too.

Didn't even know you could get a sleeve kit until your post, googled it, not to expensive. Where are the top hats sourced from? Looks like you got a winner..

Not yet but I will take some during install. Right now we are getting 2 feet of snow so not a good time to install.
Thnx I hope they perfom as well as they look. I didnt know about the sleves either until I started doing a lot of research. And I belive the top hats are megan racing but Jeff at pro parts had to swap out a few parts to make everything fit.

Can the guy build a custom set for a Nismo, shocks/struts only and using the stock springs? I would like to get the bounce out of my suspension on rough roads.

If you don't want springs then just go with off the shelf koni yellows. Standard konis will take the stock or aftermarket springs no problem. This setup is if you want 2.5" is race springs and higher springs rates than OTS koinis can handle.
