Rydeen or Clarion AX1 - anything else?
Hey Guys
I am just looking for a new head unit. I have a pioneer touch dvd/cd player now with a fold down screen but need a knob and would like something android based to get internet stuff on occasion. So far there seems to be a ton of head units from China on Ebay - by no name company's, and these make me a little nervous. Clarion, Rydeen and Kenwood have units now, the Kenwood looks great but the reviews are terrible. Would you guys have any other recommendations? Last edited by instroke; 01-03-2015 at 11:00 PM. |

I'm in the same boat as you are. I would like a Android powered head unit that is WiFi capable.
The Rydeen unit looks promising but the $700 price tag is steep. The china models you are talking about make me nervous too. About the only only one I found that looks worth anything is the Pumpkin model. Anyone out there recently installed any of these android HU's? Like to get some up-to-date feedback on any of these. |

The problem with all the non Chinese android systems is they run on hardware and software that is about 4-5 years old now. I have an old tablet that runs on the same hardware as these systems and it can get really slow and high quality video can even get choppy. I really don't understand why these major companies use $50 hardware and software no one develops for and/or use propriety android software which defeats the whole purpose of android.
The android systems from China do have good hardware and are true android systems running recent versions. The only problem with them are they don't have any good map software if they have any at all. And most of the buttons around the display don't function. There is no android system I'd recommend anyone to buy. |

Save your money and get the parrot rnb6 when it comes out later this year.
Parrot's Android-powered car system also does Apple CarPlay |
