How to replace unit in this?
So I have seen different types of audio units online. Because right now I am trying to gather as much info as I can before I actually buy the car I am curious. How do you guys go about replacing this with an aftermarket unit when this is all one piece? Do you have to order the din unit setup from Nissan?
Here is a shot of what I am talking about. I dont see any seam on this one like I do on others. |

You get one of these:
But you are looking at an image of the Bose stereo package, which would be dumb to get if you are just going to go aftermarket anyways. It is much harder to deal with than the base stereo so it'd be a much better idea to get a package with the base head unit, which looks like this: Apparently you can use the stock faceplate but there may be a slightly larger panel gap around the head unit, you might still want to get the aftermarket one, like posted above. |

You have to order a dash kit. It will replace the head part with a double din hole. You swap the AC knobs from your OEM unit over to the aftermarket piece.

Question for you guys.
Any Nismo I find has that dash where I cannot just take out old unit and put in new. Is there a reason for this? I thought only bose did that but it seems all Nismo bose or not has that same one piece unit? |

As long as you don't get the big Nav unit, something can be done. The Nav unit, if you go that way has to stay and you can build from there, but it's not cheap.

kenchan - Here is a shot of a 2014 nismo interior. This does not have the Bose system yet the center dash is all one unit. No deck so I can replace it.
I know I can just buy that center unit but I never liked how the aftermarket looked and fit. I assume I can buy an oem center dash unit and have no fitment issues? |

Only reason I posted that shot is because the ad didn't mention a Bose package. so I figured it didn't have it. I shall just keep an eye out. Either way, this wont hold me back from making a purchase haha. |

Yeah, that looks to be the Bose package. Just make sure whatever car you are looking at has the headunit like i posted in my first post. I picked up my 370Z after looking on autotrader and found out that descriptions can be very off from matching what the photos show.
Looking at pics of the interior and exterior should tell a trained eye all that is needed to know as far as what model and packages the Z has. |
