Default need installation help!

hi i am trying the installation with my friend for the first time..and i am having a few problems right now.

i guess i will first start of stating the system i have.

2010 base model (sport)
axxess steering wheel control aswc-1
jvc kw-nsx600 headunit

first of all, the rear view camera wire that powers up the camera (red wire and black wire, i guess black is to the ground) is kind of short to reach the headunit. in this case, where should I connect it?

secondly, for axxess, it says
1) locate the correct swc wires in the vehicle's radio primary or secondary hardness as described in the vehicle information sheet found on the axxess website. connect the correct wire color from the aswc to the steering wheel control wire(s) in the vehicle?
2) also, it says if you are using newer jvc radio, plug the included female 3.5mm connect with the brown and brown/white wires into the male 3.5 mm connecter of the aswc-1 harness. connect the swc wire (normally blue/yellow) to the brown wire of the aswc-1, isolate brown/white wire and tape it.

so, in the JVC manual, it says blue with yellow stripe is the steering remote control wire, so all i have to do is connect with the brown wire that is with the female connecter? what do i do for 1)? i look at the application chart and for 370z base it says steering wheel control connector is 7552 shell and vehicles 1st swc wire color is dk blue.

what is the swc wire....? I am so confused and i need help..

Thank you

I can help with a few since I just did an install myself:

You can ground the camera to any ground spot on the car. Add as much to the wire as you need to get it to any of the metal bolts exposed in the hatch area.

The SWC wires are the ones that send the steering wheel control signals; there is a pos and neg.

The SWC wires for the base stereo are pin 6 and 16 on the vehicle harness (not the metra or whatever aftermarket adapter harness you're using).

Sorry, I'm not familiar with the JVC wiring as I have a Pioneer and it has a 3.5mm jack so no need to use the one that came with the ASWC.

One thing someone else noticed is that if you get only volume controls from the steering wheel, then you need to switch around the wires you tapped into.

Good luck!

thank you for the reply!!!
how about the red wire for the camera? shouldn't that be connected to something to power up the camera?? the wire is kind of short so I dont think i can bring it to the head unit

For your pioneer, did u use 3.5mm jack and didn't have to connect any to the swc wires? (pin 6 and 16)

If your camera leads aren't long enough then you need to make them longer by adding more wire. The red wire should go a switchable power source (one that turns on with acc/on). I tapped mine into the red wire on the harness.

I still needed to tap into pin 6 & 16 to get the signal from the steering wheel. The 3.5 is used to get that signal into the head unit to make the function work.

thanks for the reply. how did you tab into pin 6 & 16 of the car? you are talking about the one that directly plugs into the harness kit right? but the harness kit has the 6/16 empty??

also..how do i get the camera wires out of the vehicle to the license plate..?

Yes, you have to tap pin 6/16 on the vehicle side of the harness because they aren't carried through on the aftermarket harness. So either cut the wires or use taps.
Get the Axxess ASWC working - All buttons

For the camera, it all depends on how you're going to mount the camera and where it fits. There are many different models that work in different spots. Here's the links I used for guidance but I pretty much used the knowledge from these threads to figure out how I was going to make it work with my camera.

BTW - I found all this stuff by using the search. I am sure some people would jump on you for not searching especially since this info is readily available.

You also need to decide how you want to wire your camera as in whether you can view the rear at all times or if you only want it to cut on ONLY when the vehicle is in reverse. Depending on your camera model you can wire it for power in the rear via power from the tail light and then run your "switch" wire to the head unit.

For your axxess it wires up the the harness coming from the vehicle . Not the aftermarket harness that you connect to the JVC harness.
