Pioneer X4600BT installed. Who needs a Metra dash kit?!

You just need 1/8" spacers to put on the 4 screws that hold the radio bracket. I used white PVC spacers you find in the screws aisle of the hardware store. While there, also get some black foam weather sealant. I cut it down the middle to make thinner strips and placed it around all four edges of the factory trim. Use a trim remover tool to squeeze it behind the head unit as your re-install everything and it will create a nice seal around the gaps. You can not even see any foam and no gaps. The 1/4" spacers make the head unit stick out just enough to also help hide the gaps. Total probably spend $5 vs who knows what for the metro Cash kit that to me just looks cheap. If you have an iphone, can you use the Map app while playing pandora while in app mode?

I did have a single din Kenwood head unit in another car that behaved like that in cold weather. I replaced itwith a newer model and it did the same thing. I guess its hit and miss? Well you don't need it! sell it on eBay and make some money. :-) I have an android. I have used the Pandora app mode but haven't tried using map. will try tonight Last edited by GalletGun; 01-06-2014 at 02:34 PM. |

In thinking of getting this same stereo. How do you like it. GalletGun? how much better does it sound than the stock base head unit? Any other advice you can share about the installation? Thanks! |

However, from what I read, the factory headunit only puts about 9 watts to the factor speakers, while this pioneer headunit would do about 25 watts, so it would definitely make your factory speakers sound alooot better. The head unit itself is great. Touch screen is fast and responsive. My favorite is the Pandora interface for your phone. Works flawlessly with both android and apple devices. I have no complaints about it. Install of it was like direct factory replacement. It was a breeze. Its not the latest and greatest head unit but if you can find it for a good price, than you pretty much can not find a better head unit. The only regret I had was that I didnt get the 5500/5600bhs model. The difference is that that model is XM radio ready and I believe its a $50 difference in retail. Use 1/8" spacers by the way. In my first post I said 1/4" but the headunit "fits" nicer with slightly smaller spacers. Let me know if u have any other questions. Last edited by GalletGun; 10-09-2014 at 06:37 PM. |
