Default Installed Full audio system :P

Hey everyone,

bought my Z back in April, love it, last car owned for 8 years(16-24) VW GTI.
Always loved a good audio system so I decided to research for a few weeks, decided on a full kenwood system from Crutchfield. Good people there, good sale, etc...

Build took me about 4 days straight. I live in a nice apartment complex but it was annoying running back and forth with tools to and fro the car. Retouched my soldering skills and patience.

First of all I love working on the Z compared to any car I've fiddled with before. Everyone just pops and snaps in place I can take the interior part in no time now. The interior plastics aren't as amazing as Audi...but I'm ok with that.

Anyways here's my build, enjoy the read

So much stufffff

Ripping apart the interior

Kenwood DDX 470. Didn't feel the need for the nav unit

Buddy had this idea about putting these on the top. I like it so far, actually matches the gauges and if I ever grow tired, the plastic inserts aren't expensive.

I loved the Amp's design and wanted good cooling/a little subtle show so I mounted it to the top and kept the cables as clean as possible. I still might develop a bracket that goes over top and cancels them out.

Kinda gives it an industrial look

I like this rear backup cam, easy to adjust.

Looks like a nice build. My only annoyance is why in the world would you cut your factory harness off??!!!!!! I honestly think spending the 6 bucks for the harness would of not only saved you time but would also be cleaner and be reversible.

You bought from Crutchfield Right? Not only was it free with your purchase they should have advised you of this...Looks like the aftermarket stereo is staying in there now.

Yes the build looks good. Besides the harness all looks good. Be careful with those tweeters they pretty much scream steal me.

Why don't you mount your amp where it can't be seen? I hate wires showing! Looks clean. I got all my stuff from Crutchfield also and they included the harness with the 800 deck.

I just had a realization...

Crutchfield did sent me the right harness to connect. I have no idea why
but I thought since there was a tag that said "subaru only(in hindsight meaning..the wire...not the harness," then the entire harness must be for a Subaru.

How do I do something so perfectly....wrong?

I need to undo my mistake

I hate seeing wires too, I'm going to design a bracket that covers them. I just want to keep them clean and organized in the mean time.

Depends on how short you cut the wires to the harness. You might be able to restore it like I did here.

How NOT to install a head unit
