Default FM Reception

Anyone having issues with FM reception.
I have a 2012 Sport, the factory radio had poor reception. I installed a $2000 aftermarket system, still poor reception. I had the dealer replace the power antenna, the tint removed and still no change.
I wish they just kept the stereo setup from the 03. I opened a case w/ Nissan Consumer Affairs...right now, I am using XM, and that's not much better. Switching over to Sirius after it took me 3wks to find the older model tuner and adapter(SCC-1).
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated....
thanks

Put in a Cd, Mp3, Usb, Aux to your ph and call it a day. I don't even remember the last time my Z played the radio. Oh ya.......... To preset the stations and that was the last of it.

Confused on the "removed tint" part. Don't you have the shark fin antenna on the roof?

Could be sunspot activity or environmental issues creating the bad reception. If it's been doing it only recently, this may be the problem. If long term...good luck.

That's on touring models only; it's the factory satellite antenna.

I used to get poor reception on a some FM stations, but it was the same way in my old car both with factory HU and aftermarket HU. I chalked it up to location and possibly geographical features in between (though I don't know where the tower was located). I generally roll with the windows down and no music, so when the only station I really cared about recently switched to tejano, that made my decision that much easier to abandon the radio waves entirely. Now I only listen to the musical notes from the engine and occasionally Pandora on my iPhone via the AUX input. Just this week I disconnected the battery to perform some work on the car, and I will not be resetting the presets

The shark fin is only an XM tuner.. regardless of the trim level of the car... The AM/FM tuners on our Z's are all the same. They're built into the rear defrost lines on the rear hatch.. So sometimes window tint will mess them up. I know my tuner went to hell after I got an aftermarket head unit. I even made sure I was getting good power (12V) and still can only get one station lol

Ah, thanks, I get it now. I'm just curious because I've been installing a new Kenwood system in mine and had to get an antenna adapter. I was stuck on what the blue wire on the adapter was for and how to connect it to the Kenwood.

When I connected the blue wire to power, bang, I was getting station after station. There were more than I knew existed from cities an hour+ away north and south from me. I live in a small community in between with no power stations like Austin would have. Plus, my Z was inside the garage with lots of stuff around and in the attic that should interfere with reception.

I thought the shark fin was also AM/FM but I understand about the rear window now. So if the OP had the power antenna replaced by the dealer, does that mean the whole rear window was replaced? Because I'm thinking his aftermarket head unit isn't connected to the stock antenna.

yah, i think the op meant he had the dealer swap out the antenna booster already.

the roadsters come with a physical pole type antenna? no idea.

The power antenna, aka blue wire is connected. It took me 3 wks but I am pulling out the 3500 and SXV200 tuner and putting in the Pioneer 1400 w/ SCC-1 Sirius. I get one station that comes in clear. My 350 never had these issues. It also had the external one on the drivers rear quarter. Thanks for the feedback.
The strange thing about it is the dealer had a 2013 Touring, Bose, Nav, and it still had FM issues. We'll see what happens when I swap everything out.
