Radar detector and power supply placement; what were they thinking?
The power supply is in the center console...far from the windshield. And to top it off, there's only one indentation for protruding cords and it is on the driver side. Soooo, the cord has to reach from the console, and over the stick to get to the window.
I just spent $540 on a Escort Redline, including Escort Live, and will need to carefully cut a minor indentation on the right side to keep the cord from rubbing my arm all day long. And even then it looks ridiculous. Any other ideas for placement and/or power supply? |

If your car has an Homelink mirror, you can use invisicord?

You could always splice in wires and put a tap on it to go to the drivers footwell fuse box.

Don't feel bad, it took me a little time to find the passenger side plug in.

you may also be able to get a hard wired cord, sort of the same idea as mentioned above, but instaed of cutting your cord as it may not be 12volts, and then you still have a cord to use in another car.

I just installed a 9500ix with the smartcord live hard wire. I picked up a ATM fuse tap and tapped into the audio fuse and mounted the smartcord control on the shelf next to the steering column to the right. No holes needed, completely seamless clean install.
Others have mounted the smartcord control in one of the center console blanks but this wont work with the smartcord live controller. It's too big. I've got pics and will post a DYI next weekend. |
