Default Trouble locating orange reverse wire for backup camera!

I'm still having trouble finding the reverse orange wire after looking through these forums.

Down in the driver side panel, we located an orange wire and tried testing it with a multiimeter, but it always remain at 12v, regardless whether the gear is in reverse or not. From the 2009 service manual, that wire SHOULD be the reverse wire, don't know what's wrong.

White wire is from the multimeter - Orange wire:

Since that didn't work, we tried looking for orange wires in the trunk area, that didn't go so well either. We didn't see any orange wire.

Trunk area:

I have the 2011 Touring + Sport Package + 6MT if that make makes any difference.

What am I doing wrong?

should be in that bundle you pictured above from the trunk. You can get to it by removing only the center piece of the trunk panels. Its more of a peach-tan color than a bright orange i think

Try one of these, I circled them in the pic.

If you trying to tap from the front, I'm positive the wire is there

I had to cut some electrical tape off the plastic protective wrap that was around all the wires. But it depends on where you tap the wire from.

Hmm, that's wierd.. I think we did try those wires in the back, putting the gear in reverse didn't change the voltage on the multimeter.

You can pick up that wire in the drivers kick panel but as stated it is more of a tan color than orange there are a few that color just use your multi meter to locate the correct one.Where to tap into for B.U. Cam, power, etc?

Is there 2 of them or just 1 of the peach tan color? We tapped into one with 2 of the same color... (This is in the trunk area)

We have the car switched to "On" without the engine running. I think that should still work.

I could not find that wire so I used the green/white wire that goes to the reverse bulb. It works.

Adding to this thread and maybe one or two others as I just added my aftermarket radio to my stock rear camera and some of the wires are different colors than what I've been seeing here. My Z is a 2019 Heritage manual. Apologies for resurrecting older threads.

In some threads I've seen the camera wires as being contained within a larger insulated gray wire. In my case it was a blue wire.
Some images show this gray wire containing 1 green, 1 red, 1 white and 1 black wire. In my case there was a red, white and black wire.
I tapped the white wire as ground and the black wire as positive for the rca cable that connects to the rear of my radio.
This differs from other instructions stating that the black wire is ground, red is positive and green is the reverse light trigger.

Here's an image from another thread showing the blue wire in the back hatch area. It looks the same in the kick panel.

For the trigger wire that shows voltage when in reverse, some threads referred to an orange or tan wire in the drivers side kick panel area. My wire is tan with a white stripe, also in the kick panel.

Hope this helps others with late model Z's that might have the same wiring as mine.
