The Best Bluetooth-Aux Adapter
TL;DR the Tunai Firefly provides music streaming without an unneeded battery or interfering with stock phone calls.
Like anyone with a non-navigation 370Z, my car does not accept media streaming over Bluetooth, only phone calls. There are countless Bluetooth-Aux adapters on the market but the vast majority contain features which are superfluous and only get in the way of the intended use case. Specifically, most contain a microphone to support phone calls. The problem is that our cars already have Bluetooth for phone calls which are undoubtedly far superior with ideal microphone placement compared to a dongle. We don't want multiple handset devices competing to take a phone call. The second unneeded feature is a battery. Not only is this not needed, but it can malfunction in extreme temperatures, and limit the life of the device. Not only that, but the battery can also require manually turning it on and off. What we're looking for is a Bluetooth-aux adapter with less features. We simply need it to turn on when the car starts, turn off when the car stops, and accept streaming music ONLY. As it turns out, I've found the perfect device for this use case, which was actually rather hard to find. Search for a "Tunai Firefly" on Amazon or eBay. It's just a wire with a USB plug on one end (for power) and an aux plug on the other. No battery, no microphone, no buttons. Hopefully this helps someone else who wants Bluetooth streaming on their stock, non-nav model. |

It works. i'm stoked to not have to plug my phone in every time i want to listen to music.
The phone still connects to the car for calls, and the tunai for music. |
