This should work on the sport tech, at least it does on my 2016. You do have to switch your phone over to an Audio device for it to work though. However your phone will still work as a phone as well. I'm not near my car, but under the BT menu you should find an Audio device option right under phone option, select that, then select your phone, it will ask you if you want to convert it to an audio device. Then it will play audio from the phone.

Have you selected your cars BT from your phone and went into the settings of it? Some phones only set it up as a phone call device but if you select options you can select the audio option. I know my Infiniti I have to pair it as a BT audio device instead of just a phone BT device. It's was a pain to figure out

Your phone should show up, select it and it will ask if you want to convert it to an audio player. Select yes. Your phone will still act like a phone after the conversion, and accept voice commands from the car, it will just allow you to play music as well. This is my guess as to what is missing, this is what I have to do on my 2016, otherwise I can't play music either. |

Dude! Thank you so much. I was having the same issue. I thought I needed the firmware update as well, but there was no way I was paying for it. I just went out to my car and switched it over to Audio Device and boom. OP, it should definitely work for you. I had to play around with it first. I can make step by step instructions for you if need be.

OMG u r the man. I hadn’t been able to play music unless I used cord (Slacker/Pandora/Spotify) since I bought my car in October 2016.
Your detailed instructions were Great. Cut the Cord to music. Only charging now☄️
