2009 370z Bose Bluetooth Music Streaming
Hey Everyone,
I know many of you wish you could stream bluetooth music to the stock Bose headunit. I came across this company called CoolStream that make this device called CarPro. I asked if I could test it in a 370z and they sent me a receiver for a BMW. Well it works greats, see for yourself. I've posted a video if you want to see. I have no affiliation with this company but i have have tried a few bluetooth receivers that plug into the RCA inputs and they always sounded like crap. Worst of all none of them had steering wheel controls! Sound Quality is actually very good. I would rate it on this level: 1) CD - best 2) Ipod - best, just maybe slightly below CD or just as good as long as you have good mp3/lossless music. 3) CarPro - As long as you are streaming at highest quality level the difference in sound quality and volume is hardly noticeable. Anything plugged into RCA ports in the Bose Sytem to me is not even worth listening to. I've had my phone hooked up from headphone to RCA plugs, bluetooth receivers hooked up the RCA and the sound is just so horrible I couldn't stand it.

I also purchased Grom's V-Line Infotainment system which was fairly easy to install and integrated decently with the Touch Screen. Problem for me was it inputs the audio as an Analog signal. The audio sounded like it was coming out of a tin can so i returned it. I also didn't like that it did something to my control panel. After it did an auto update, my ac controls stopped working and it took a call and update to the firmware to fix it. They told me it was a known issue. I was not happy living in AZ that this device could potentially brick my AC control panel.

Hi Weapon,
I have an 09 also and use something similar to the CoolStream, it's a device called Bovee 1000 Wireless Bluetooth Music Interface Adapter for in Car iPod Integration in Amazon. Basically I use a DC injector to power this device on immediately when ACC activates, then the radio sees it and thinks it's an iDevice. The WMA1000 then receives Metadata and music from my iPhone X and streams it to the BT interface on the WMA1000 and then to the radio 30 Pin connector. I've had it for nearly 7 years and it works quite well. As I said in another post, the only "quirk" it has is that the Navi Headunit in my Z powers up the 30 Pin connector and looks for a device [U]after[U] the radio is booted and the period between the radio booting and then querying the 30 pin iDevice header is long enough that the Navi Headunit never sees the BT adapter. I fixed this by finding a 30 Pin Male to 30 Pin female iPod connector with a side port to provide power from a 12V to 5 V adapter connected to the ACC line. This way the BT adapter is already powered on and recognizable when the radio finishes booting. That quirk isn't a show stopper but the radio often and randomly fails to see the BT adapter unless I use the method described above. CableJive dockStubz+ 30-pin Charge Converter or [ ME SUPERB ] Lightning 8 Pin Female to 30 Pin Male Adapter for iPhone 3 4S iPad 3 iPod Touch 4 would all work but you would have to pry them apart and connected the +5V to the 30 Pin connector Pin #8 and any ground pin. Haha! Oh man! Only a few years ago, I had to reverse engineer and build my own! In fact, I just started working on it again. I was going to make it an open source project. Its fully functional and runs on a little Arduino. I just had a run of test PCB's made. It used the BC127 audio bluetooth module which handles all the metadata. Only thing I didn't look into was the playlist stuff as I wanted it mainly for Pandora and other live streaming sources. Maybe Ill look at that again....

My 2011 has the connect premium, but Bluetooth always stutters and doesn't work properly. Anyone know of a Bluetooth dongle like this (purely over USB) that'll work in from the UK?
I need the steering controls to still work also. |
