Navigation System Opinions?
I know there are several different threads on here about navigation systems but I wanted everyone's opinion on this one system I found through Crutchfield that's not too expensive, it's called Boss BV960NV and the link is here: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_104BV9....html?tp=20212. Has anyone heard of that brand or system, good or bad, or should I just spend a bit more for something like a Kenwood or Pioneer? My car doesn't have a navigation system currently and is the base roadster model.

Another option is a Android based head unit such as Joying. Joying makes a unit that is compatible with the 370z wiring harness so very little or no cutting/splicing is needed.
Since it is Android, you can use any navigation app that supports offline maps, such as Google Maps and Sygic. Sent from my SM-S320VL using Tapatalk |

Nissan's implementation of Navigation is extraordinarily lame. The only thing more counterproductive, IMHO, would be installing an aftermarket navigation head unit....a sure road to aftermarket installation frustration, IMHO.
There are about a half-dozen navigation programs for your iPhone/Android, and most of them are free. As relatively lame as it is, even Apple Maps is infinitely better than Nissan's navigation system. |

I don't know too much about Boss headunits but if you're going for an affordable headunit with navi and GPS, I'd suggest the Jensen VX7022. Good headunit for the price.

I have an opinion...I own a Nismo with no navigation and I don't miss it one bit. If I ever need it I pull out my phone...

All I need is just a bluetooth system that I can hear from Google maps on my phone.
When it tells me where to go, I can keep my eyes forward for safe driving. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk |

I have the Nissan Navigation, it's actually pretty good (in 2009) but now in 2017 I just use Google Maps on my phone and use BT for the voice. Works very well....
Updates for the 2009 Navi to about 2012 are available but it's still not 2017 worthy, if you know what I mean. We have a 2016 Santa Fe with Navi and we still use phone for Navi in that car. To answer your original question I have no knowledge/use of the Boss unit although I know it's a lower tier product. The Jensen mentioned is a mid tier product and it's a good head unit. Upper tier head units are no better as far as Navi. None of them compare to the phone. |
