Where is this amp located?

I believe this is the Bose bass sub amplifier they have in my '16 Nismo, too. (Newer Bose sub enclosure no longer has the bass sub inside of it like they used to do.) I haven't started pulling trim panels out yet to look for it -- but was hoping someone knew? |

What are you trying to do? That amp would be a nightmare to try and integrate into any system. It's one amp that controls everything for the bose system.

re: Bose amp
No... I think this is a secondary Bose amp that only powers the factory bass subwoofer. My interest in it is in tapping wires from the harness that goes into it so I can access +12 volt power to it, as well as potentially the full-range line level audio that's getting fed into it.
I'd actually like to unplug the harness that goes from it into the subwoofer itself, so it's shut off. I'd like to hook up one of these integrated 8" subwoofer/amp combos like the JBL BassPro SL in its place, and was thinking it would be an easier, cleaner install if I can just attach the thing to the right wires going into the Bose subwoofer amp. (They've already got everything I need running all the way back to it in the trunk area.) Last edited by twyrick; 04-01-2017 at 10:44 PM. |

Well, so much for THAT plan....
Thanks to the information you guys passed along, I was able to locate the Bose sub -- but unfortunately, it's mounted to the metal rear tub of the hatch. That rear middle foam piece you have to remove to access it won't come out until you remove both plastic side panels in the hatch. (It's long enough so it stretches way under the ends of them on each side.) I got the passenger side plastic rear trim panel completely unsnapped, only to find it still wouldn't come loose until I also removed the plastic trim piece with the rear hatch light on it, that it tucks underneath.
That panel refused to pull loose for me, and I started putting a crease in the plastic trying to pop it free, so I gave up and reassembled everything. (Managed to break a plastic clip in the process too. Ugh.) So yeah .... if you want to get to the stupid thing, they make you take apart ALL of the plastic making up the rear hatch/trunk area to do it. Not worth it. |

I'm not far from you if you need help. I've done installs in over 65 370z's I know them in and out.

re: install help
Thanks! Appreciate that offer, and will keep you in mind. Since this is just a pretty basic install (all in one sub and amp box), I wouldn't even expect you to make the trip out to me just to put that in.
Truthfully, I'm sort of torn on how much I even want to invest in the audio system for the Z. I dumped thousands into my Wrangler Unlimited already, on a mission to get good sounding audio out of the awful "Alpine Premium Audio" it came with. It's still not 100% where I want it to be, but it's good. By comparison, the Bose system in the Z is FAR better than what they gave me in the Jeep to start with. I'm hoping I can just spend a few hundred bucks on this sub upgrade and be satisfied with it. |

re: calibrating and tuning
You know? I do actually still have an Alpine module that needs to be installed with the X109-WRA head-unit in my Wrangler. It's supposed to allow it to turn my light-bar on and off, control the winch remotely, etc. from the stereo itself.
I ran out of $'s when buying everything else and decided that was really a project to do another time. Would you be interested in trying to tackle that too? If so, I guess I really do have some work that could be done on the Jeep. I'd like to get it calibrated and tuned. I still have an AudioControl DQDX installed in it right now, but I just leave it on "bypass" mode, so the only purpose it serves is letting me adjust the bass sub volume level via its remote knob, I installed underneath the steering column. The Alpine stereo seems to be capable enough that I didn't think the AudioControl really did me any good anymore, but maybe you'd discover otherwise in the process of tuning? |
