Default Need Some Advise On Audio

I have this Amp and Sub combo, but can I get the subs full output with this amp? Meaning, can i get it to push 1 ohm and get all 3000 watts/1500 rms or will i have to run it at 2 ohms and how much will i be sacrificing in sound by not running it @ 1 ohm which is its full potential, Thanks in advance.

First off never go by MAX wattage, you want to look at the RMS of what a speaker or sub can handle. In this case the sub can handle 1500 watts RMS. You could probably send it more only if the power is clean but I wouldn't send it 3000 watts all day.

Next it's a dual 1 ohm sub so you'd have to run it at either .5 ohms or 2 ohms. Running at 2 ohms will be fine since the amp puts out 1600 watts RMS for that.

But my last thing is it there a reason you choose these two products? You could get a really nice setup and a smaller amp footprint for around the same money. Might not be that much power. What kind of bass are you looking for? I know a single 10 at 500 watts in a Z is LOUD to begin with.

Thanks for the quick response.
This is my current setup and although I like it, its sub par and I just wanted to get the max amount of bass from a single 10" sub. 1600 RMS is almost triple what i'm running right now so thats fine, but how much would i be starving my new sub by running it at 2 ohms oppose to one?

You wouldn't be "starving" it at all. As bigaudiofanat said, you need to be comparing the RMS wattage. If you run that amp at 1 ohm all the time, you're gonna need a new sub in no time.

That amp is an idea match for that sub at 2 ohms meaning you're delivering it 1600 watts RMS where the sub is rated for 1500 watts RMS so you're getting all the potential out of it safely.

You can't run your new sub at 1 ohms, you have to wire the dual voice coils that a 1 ohms EACH to either 2 ohms or .5 ohms. And you do not want to run at .5 ohms with an amp that isn't going to be stable at that. Once again you aren't going to starve your sub at all. RMS is right on the money.

What sub would go perfect with this amp? I installed the above setup with the American Bass Sub and it doesn't sound like i expected. Sounded good at first and then it started to sound distorted and this was only after a few hours of toying around with it in the garage. I took it out and sent it back for a refund, but now I need another choice and a perfect fit for this amp..

So at 4ohm you're looking at 800w rms or 2ohm 1600rms. Personally 1600 is a bit much, unless you're running two subwoofers if you're running 1, you'd need a damn powerful one like a 15" Type R <-- I had 2 of these in my Silverado and tuned my Ported box down to 20hz.

If you're looking at 4ohm which in this situation id say is the best option.

Personally I'm a huge fan of Alpine subwoofers. But really you'll want a subwoofer than can handle 800/1000w rms at a 4ohm load. So if you want a dual voice coil you'll need a 10D2(ohm)

SWR-10D2 - Alpine 10" Dual 2-Ohm Type-R Series Subwoofer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007YK0FKE..._-ruzybTXD5GZE

This will do fine. But look for subwoofers that can handle 800w rms or a little more at 4ohm

Without a ported box, which I'm not sure if you have, you might not get fantastic results but it will sound decent.

In short.
You have two options
4 ohm load 800w rms on subwoofer (you can get SVC4ohm, or DVC2ohm)
2 ohm load 1600w rms on subwoofer (you can get SVC2ohm, or DVC4ohm)

SVC - single voice coil
DVC - dual voice coil

Find a subwoofer that is in those categories and you'll be fine.

If anything here isn't correct someone please jump in, I'm a novice.

It will be damn hard to find a 10" that accepts 1500w rms that doesn't break the bank.

Try the one I linked. It will go perfectly with your amp.

Well i just fried this Kicker Comp R: https://www.amazon.com/Kicker-CWR102...N%3DB01BKT8T4I
It had a burnt smell to it and ended up sending the amp into protection mode. I had it wired Parallel as instructed and the gain was less than 50% and my HU wasn't maxed out either, i don't get it. It shouldn't be clipping at those setting and anything less than that isn't even worth having in car, might as well stay stock. This is the 2nd DVC speaker that has failed, I'm going to try a SVC and if that doesn't work i'm going to trash the whole system and start over

I'm not a Guru, but I've been installing my own audio for since I was a teenager so the install, wiring ect is all on point and this is the first time I've ever encountered this problem.
