Question Amp Location

Hi All,

I'm going to do my install tomorrow and i am hung up on one issue: where to mount the amp.

I do not necessarily want the amp exposed to onlookers and dont want the amp installed on the little shelf behind the seats... in my 350z the amp was installed under the driver seat...

Out of the normal places; on the speaker box or the shelf behind the seat; has anyone done a "stealth" install for the amp? I.E. under the seat, spare tire well, etc.... Any help would be great!!

***pics please if available of the amp place***

Sorry no pictures, but I had plenty of room under the drivers seat and haven't had any overheating issues at all.

Nothing spectacular - Pioneer Premier 980BT deck, Alpine SPR-17S Components, and a Rockford amp.

Nice and clean, and an improvement over the factory sound.

On my 370Z I have two MTX Thunder 2160's mounted one under each seat along with one of my giant crossovers from my Boston Z6 components under each seat. I have one 2160 bridged mono into each crossover at ~450w per side then ran new separate speaker wire for the woofer and tweeter from under the seat up each side to the speakers in the dash and door. So i've got ~900w going to my components and it's all completely stealth and takes up no room anywhere. The RCA's and amp turn on wire i ran up the center console and split the RCA there running one plug to each amp under the carpet. Power I ran into a distrobution block in that space in the trunk then back through to the center console from the middle and under the carpet. I just need a subwoofer solution now, but have RCA's and power back there ready to go. I had to pretty much tear the whole interior out of the car to do it this way, but I like it. I don't have pictures handy but pretty easy to imagine amps sitting under seats.

I have an alpine amp mounted vertically on the bulkhead under the shelf behind the passenger seat. Passengers have to give up a tiny bit of seat travel, but that is there problem, not mine.

I am not a fan of putting amps under the seat. Where I have put amps are on the shelf behind the seat or you can take that long piece of foam out in the trunk and mount them there.

I mounted mine ( JL Hd900/5) under the black foam. Epoxied 2 wooden strips to floor and then screwed the amp down to the wood. I tilted it upward to provide easier access for amp settings once everything was installed and running.

My speaker crossovers are under each seat towards the back.

Amp is too easily stolen on the rack behind the seat. Hide it dude.

See my install videos for a visual. Video #4 shows the amp placement.
