Default HOW TO WIRE CROSSOVERS W/O amp

I've looked numerous times on the370z forum, YouTube, crutch field etc I recently purchased the Polk db6501s and a pioneer avh-x4800bs HU with the axxess ASWC1. Question I have is for the crossovers. Do I splice new speaker wire from the oem mid harness and screw those into the crossover, and then run new wires from the tweeter and mid into the crossover?

I've asked one of the members but he still has yet to respond ( I literally copied and pasted this from the email LOL)

But yea, unsure on how to wire because I'm fairly new to this lol

The speaker output from the headunit will go to the input of the cross over.

If you dont want to hack up your harness, you'll only be able to use the OEM wire for the door speaker or the dash speaker, but not both. The OEM speakers have their individual crossovers built directly on them, so the wires for each side actually run to both the dash speaker and door speaker. (i.e., the drivers side speaker positive wire runs to both the positive side the drivers dash speaker AND the positive side of the drivers door speaker)

The easiest configuration is to connect the woofer output on your crossover to the OEM wire and use it to for the door speakers.. then run a new wire for the tweeters.

Hope that helps!

Yes I'm swapping out the door speakers and tweeters for the Polk db6501s, so to dumb it down for me (barely passed high school LOLOL)

crossover woofer +/- --> OEM speaker wire
Crossover tweeter +/- --> tweeter with new wire
Crossover input +/- --> ***(unsure)**

I'd prefer not to hack up the oem harness. I'd rather tap into the speakers

headunit speaker output goes to the crossover input... Make sense? I can draw you a diagram or something if you want =)

You'll need to run new wir for at least one of the speakers that's your choice. I like to run all new. Input of the crossover comes from the wires of your head unit. New speaker wire goes from the crossover to the tweeter and woofer.

No need to tape them just secure them so they don't rattle.
