Kenwood Excelon DNX692 vs Excelon DNX892

Hey everyone, I'm looking for an aftermarket headunit to put into my 2016 370z Sport when I take delivery of it. Can anyone give me insight on these two systems?

Default Kenwood Excelon DNX692 vs Excelon DNX892

Hey everyone, I'm looking for an aftermarket headunit to put into my 2016 370z Sport when I take delivery of it. Can anyone give me insight on these two systems? Kenwood Excelon DNX692 and Excelon DNX892. According to Crutchfield, they are almost identical other than the DNX692 having a dial...

Don't know how many of you are running these newer systems so are there any other headunits you would recommend. I am an Android user so bluetooth compatibility is a must. I would prefer being able to stream Spotify through the unit. Also, I heard for the 2015-16 model years, the pins for steering wheel controls are different. What would be the best steering wheel adapter to maintain factory controls? Thanks for the help in advance!

I actually got the DNN 992 and it was the worst radio on the planet (will be doing my in depth review after the new year). Long story short I replaced the DNN 992 with the DNX 892 and I love it. Does everything I want and need it to do. I BT all my stuff to it and have not had a problem with my 6s or my wife's Samsung. I was able to get all my steering wheel controls to work except for the push to talk, my buddy says there is a way to do it but it is not a priority.

The one thing to note is that if you want to have use of the rear USB port you will need to hook one of the USB cables from the HU to it, HOWEVER, the pin connection in the 16 is different than the other models (so I am told), and you will need and actual female mini usb to usb to get it all working. I am also using the HDMI to my 6s so I can mirror, if you have an android there is a plugin that you can use to mirror wirelessly (I have not tried but it is on the website). You can also do a front and rear camera with this unit and the cheaper ($100) Kenwood camera actually worked better than their 320 CMOS. I tried about 5 different cameras and most were crap even the expensive ones (I am no where near my car to get the actual camera number but there is only 1 Kenwood just under 100)

If you search around the net there are many complaints about the firmware, but they have put out some new FW that provided stability, and took like 20 minutes to update, and have had no issues. One last thing, I am not sure if it is the HU or just the size of the car, but the BT phone echoes really bad when people call me. There are some adjustment setting but none have seemed to help. I am still researching that one.

I don't think you can go wrong with this radio, I really enjoy it especially after my issues with the DNN 992 (if anyone wants to know more detail on why it is a POS just PM me, like I said I will review after the beginning of the year with lots of ideos and photos)

This was very informative! I think I am definitely going down the DNX892 route. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it!
