Quick question - is it safe to mount an amp in the stock location using screws through the metal? Or should I stick with double sided tape to be safe?

Factory amp location?
Quick question - is it safe to mount an amp in the stock location using screws through the metal? Or should I stick with double sided tape to be safe? Last thing I want to do is pierce the gas tank or something stupid

As a general rule, you should not mount your aftermarket amplifier directly to the chassis. It is an invitation for ground loops, and noises associated with it.
