Default Front speakers not working/barely audible

Hey everyone, the front speakers on my Z suddenly stopped working for some reason although I haven't tinkered with the car other than disconnecting and reconnecting the negative terminal on my battery.

Also, I don't think the speakers are completely blown because they're slightly audible when I fade the audio setting all the way to the front. Is this a simple fuse/wiring issue or is it possible to blow 2 speakers simultaneously?

I'm not sure what the odds of blowing two speakers at the same time are but it has to be close enough to zero to call it that. Or you're just one unlucky SOB.

I don't remember there being more than one fuse for audio but not sure. If one of the audio guys doesn't have an answer, check the OM or FSM.

If you have the Bose system it is a good possibility the stock amp failed (a normal thing) If it's a stock base system it could be the head unit's internal amp failing.

yeah, too much of a coincidence to happen at the same time. there are other issues afoot here. you may want to try removing the knob, spritz a SMALL amount of electrical contact cleaner in there, and rotate the fade a few times. Its a long shot, but hey, start simple...

Are there two amps in the Bose models? Rear speakers and bass are working fine.

Also how much of a trouble am I looking at if I were to replace the amp?

The rear and front speakers are all controled by a main amp in the trunk. The sub has it's own amp.

To replace it with a OEM it's not too back. Remove your floor unbolt a few bolts, unplug 3 harnesses and plug in the new one. If you want to go aftermarket that's a little more trouble. Keep in mind the OEM one's aren't cheap last time I checked.

Not much trouble, because I have one sitting here that will never see use again. I'd let it go for real cheap. PM me if you confirm that is your issue.

My rear speakers are working fine so does that mean my amp is fine or can amps still partially feed power while broken?

It is possible that only the front channels went out. My next step would be to check your speakers, and wiring before replacing an amp though. Take off both door panels and disconnect speakers one at a time and see what happens. It is possible that you have a lead that is shorted to ground somewhere.

One thing I noticed was that my front speakers do function flawlessly when I'm using the bluetooth function to talk on the phone. I've looked at the wiring diagram and it seems like the issue lies somewhere between the AV unit and my amp?

Hmm does the BT call go to both the mids and tweeters or just the tweeters? Could be just your mids are faulty. That would explain the low output for all sources but BT. I'd go check in mine but it's still in 100 pieces.
