Z1 Motorsports Track Prep Parts & Service Package NOW AVAILABLE!
Everyone,
As more and more people begin to take their 370z's to the track and drag strip, it cannot be stressed enough how important proper vehicle maintanence and inspection is both before and after an event. With that, Z1 Motorsports is now offering a one of many [soon to be announced] Track Prep Parts and Service Packages for individuals looking into preparing their vehicles for one of these great events. It is not deniable that there is in fact no better way to live the dream of being a race car driver [on a budget] than by participating in either a Track or High Performance Driver's Education (aka H.P.D.E.) event. Before you even consider registering for an event, there are a few things that must be done to prepare your Z in order to be able to extract the most out of your 370z SAFELY! Before even registering for an event, you should consider doing at least the following: - Perform a thorough inspection of the vehicle (i.e., Brakes, Chassis, Suspension, etc) - Perform some preventative maintenance - Install a few crucial upgrades (To ensure your weekend is not ended early due to mechanical issues) - Have a Pre-Tech Vehicle Inspection Sheet signed off on by a certified technician (Check with the event organizers) Only after these four tasks are completed, will you and your Z be ready for a full weekend of fun at the track. To help customers who are just entering this type of motorsports activity. Z1 Motorsports has prepared the first of many, soon to be released, track oriented packages with a specific list of essential parts to cover the basic needs of any car that is going to see track usage. Z1 Motorsports Track Prep Parts Package The Z1 Motorsports Track Prep Parts Package supplies you with all of the pieces you will need to perform the following, necessary tasks: - Oil Change - Bleed/Flush the Brake System - Bleed/Flush the Hydraulic Clutch System - Installation of an oil cooler <<< A MUST HAVE FOR ANYONE PARTICIPATING IN TRACK EVENTS! The standard Z1 Motorsports Track Prep Parts Package comes with the following items: - Z1 370z Oil Change Kit (6 Qts; You choice of Engine Oil and filter) - Z1 Motorsports 370z Oil Cooler Kit (Custom tailored to fit your exact needs and budget) - Motul RBF600 Brake/Clutch Fluid (x3 Bottles) You may also choose other track essential items to further prepare your Z for the track. Such additional items include: Z1 Motorsports Stainless Steel Brake Lines and/or upgraded brake pads (specially selected for Track use). The basic parts package starts at $615 plus shipping. [Cheaper than some 370z oil cooler kits by themselves!!] Z1 Motorsports Track Prep Service Package As an additional service, the Z1 Motorsports Service Department can perform all installations and inspections at your request. A Master Technician will inspect all aspects of your vehicle and will perform all above mentioned services and installations. At the same time, our technicians can fill out and sign off on all required documents (as requested by the event's organizers). Following your track event, the Z1 Motorsports Service Department will perform a complimentary post-track evaluation, again inspecting your Z and removing any requested track-only parts (For Example: Race Compound Brake Pads and swapping Wheels/Tires). Pretty cool! I think one of these packages will be what I order for when I start to do HPDE's.
Are both the Hawk HP+ and Carbotech's okay to use on the stock Sport rotors? Or are both of them going to tear them up quickly? Also does it come with the thermostatic plate? I don't see an option or mention of it.

Lol...oops. It does not. It is an option that I left out. I have since fixed that and I appologize.
The carbotechs and Hawks will work fine with the Stock Rotors and should not hurt them. You will need to properly bed them in of course. After that, they will be good to go. We have been running Carbotechs on our 370z shop car (basically doing destructive testing on our 2-piece rotors). |

Cool, thanks again Dustin.
Also, any discount for us 7AT owners? We should need less Motul, right?

Nice! Now if only I can scrape together the cash for the equipment I need plus the HPDE costs.

Do you guys offer a 200 degree thermostatic plate? I'd rather have that than a 180 degree one.

I just checked in with our Mocal Distributor to see what options were available. Unfortunately they do not offer anything higher than 180 degrees opening temperature.
By opening at 180 degrees does not necessarily mean that it will keep oil temps at 180 degrees. This just means that it will begin allowing 100% oil flow thru the oil cooler only at that temperature. Even after that temperature is reached, your oil temps will still climb to around 200~220 degrees. This is why pairing the proper size oil cooler core and lines are key to ensuring oil temps are properly maintained. For example, a 34 row cooler installed on a Daily Driven car in Maine will be way over kill if that vehicle never sees the track. Since you are in Florida, you will rarely see outside temps below 40 degrees and can see summer temps as high as 100+ with humidity. Since your car is both an automatic and is destined to be on the track, I would really recommend the 34 row for your application. |

Cool, thanks Dustin. I was just a bit worried about it getting up to temp in the colder months (we definitely see plenty of days right around freezing), and also just for shorter trips.
Does the 34 Row fit with the Stillen G3 with no modifications?

Shorter trips will alway be detrimental to any vehicle. Just like anything else, allowing the engine to warm up a bit before thrashing on it will be key. In the event that you feel that the oil temps are not rising quick enough for you during the winter months, you can simply place a piece of aluminum or plastic in front of the oil cooler to prevent air from passing across the core. This will allow the oil temps to rise much quicker and stay warmer. Many road race cars will do something similar using an aluminum based film/tape to cover the appropriate number of rows on an oil cooler to further regulate the oil temps. - Dustin |
