I sent Dustin a PM to see if they would match the Z store's price on K&N filters for my Z.

I call up to their sales department to place my order...spoke with their sales/part manager...just to be told that they discussed "the match" and they weren't willing to match it. WTF? :shakes head:

I understand your frustration, but they are a forum sponsor and they seem to be a reptutable place, and its really not fair to make negative posts about them over $15. If you really wanted to get the price match, you should have just asked them to have dustin call you back. Now they're not going to help you, nor should they, after you bash them over $15. again, i understand your frustration, but sometimes there are miscommunications, but lets get real here, its not like you're dealing with a TT install, and they are charging you 10k instead of 7k, its $15 difference on an air filter.

I've had pleasant experiences contacting Dustin.

Did you try asking for Dustin when you called?

And if they can't match, what's the big deal? Why not buy from Z Store in that case?

Awesome first post... really setting the bar high for yourself.

Did you talk to Dustin on the phone? That might help when asking for forum deals... Their sales/parts manager may not be 100% full up on all the specials they run on all they forums they are a sponsor of.

Have heard nothing but good things about Z1. You might want to reconsider, and instead post an apology thread after receiving your filters at the normal price... :ugh2:

I go out to Z1 at least once every 2 weeks to either get things done on my car or just hang out. I have to say that all of the guys at the shop are stand guys, including the owner. I would suggest that if Dustin is the one you spoke to, to wait for him to respond. You have it in writing that they will match the price so there's no reason for Z1 not too. Definitely not over $15.

I know for a fact that Z1 has done work for many customers without charging them, so it's about customer relationships and service for them than it is about the bottomline. They know that happy customers will keep coming back and bring friends with them.

I will speak to John at Z1 and make sure that Dustin contacts you soon.

Actually, the price difference is $30 (2 filters)

Yes, I did ask for Dustin. I asked the sales manager if I needed to speak with Dustin directly for a price match. He asked me which product the match was for and I told him the filters. He told me Dustin and himself just talked about that particular match and that he told Dustin they wouldn't do it. He couldn't understand why Dustin would tell me that they could.

I'm not sure why you're trying to bash me because I shared a shopping experience that happened to be negative. I didn't condemn them, nor say never buy from them, just shared some of my frustration over a potential first purchase...just as you mentioned the "impression" my first post made on you, a company only has one opportunity to make a first impression on a new customer.

I appologize for the confusion. I am not entirely sure who you spoke with, but we have over 20 employees here (all of which answer phones). I went directly to the owner [over the parts/sales manager] regarding the price match on these filters and did get it approved. Since I was working with you directly on this special case, there were only 1 or 2 people who knew about the inquiry.

I would be more than happy to honor the price on these filters. If you would, give me a call here at the shop. My direct extension is x309.

It does not sound like you gave the company a chance to rectify the situation buddy. You spoke to somebody other then Dustin. If you spoke to Dustin and he told you that he couldn't after stating he would, I could understand. It sounds more like your being impatient then anything else. I promise you that Dustin will contact you within the hour. You spoke to a general person in the shop. Just a word of advice if you care, it's always best practice when you're getting a discount or just purchasing anything to speak to the same person.

I will end by saying this. The same way you're free to say anything you want about Z1 based on your experience with them, people have the same freedom to judge your reaction. Just a thought.

Dustin is great! I sent him a PM over the weekend and BAM this morning I had it back...

I would have tried to PM him back before I started this up...

I also understand there side of it... I might call them up today and say Dustin wanted to give me a free Big brake kit:stirthepot:

So what you're saying is you didn't speak to Dustin on the phone, that explains that part...

For starters your not sharing a shopping experience because you didn't purchase anything from them at the time your describing. Your basically :mad: cause someone told you one thing, you talked to someone else and got told a different story. So now you're talking about an entire company when it simply came down to miscommunication between co-workers who deal with different issues.

If you sent them a PM to request the deal, why did you when getting another story not reply to Dustins PM with the :wtf: Why did you come on here in their section and write this without even giving them the benefit of the doubt that it was a mistake...
