widening stock sport wheels

Man, Maggot Head, you read my mind! My only gripe about the stock 19" Rays were that they were lacking a nice lip.

Well, I checked around a few tire/rim places and one place advised me NOT to try to widen the stock Rays. He said if they were a 3 piece rim, then it would be pretty easy to do. Since the OEM Rays are a solid 1 piece, then it would be very complicated to do and would weaken the structural integrity of the wheel. He did offer to have custom made rims for me though @ $1200 per rim. NOT INCLUDING TIRES!! OUCH!! He said a Porsche is having a custom set made @ $6200. Must be nice to have money to burn like that? Imagine this though, a custom set of 20 x 10 (front) and 20 x 12 (rear) Rays (sport package model) in gun metal finish. How sweet would that be???

So he was trying to sell you HRE's so he can make more...

I know plenty of people that have done this on all sorts of wheels and yes, generally you widen on the inside only and then run spacers, but you can still get away with a beast setup like this. Not to mention they're are track cars that use spacers so its not exactly a show stopper.

you need to go to a place that specializes in widening, like weldcraft.
