Whole car vibrates why?!

Hey guys so yesterday I went to go get my ebrake adjusted because I had new rear rotors put on and it needed to be adjusted it wasn't grabbing on hills. Anyways I was driving home on the freeway going about 80 and noticed that almost my whole car was vibrating I felt it vibrating from under my seat and behind me also the steering wheel was vibrating but was not shaking back-and-forth the tech that worked on my car did admit that it was really busy and he had to get me in and out because he does work on the side for me so therefore he admitted that he did drop the wheel kind a hard really quick by accident and one of the wheel weights might have came off also I have 20 mm spacers in the front and 25 mm in the back both bolt one by h&r. he said that it could be the wheel spacers but this never happen until I drove home last night ever since I got the spacers installed I had no problems until yesterday so I doubt it's the spacers but she said that a wheel weight might've fallen off causing the wheel to be unbalanced which causes the vibration I will have to wait until Friday being that it's snowing here and they are closed on Thanksgiving but what do you guys think could be the issue

*obviously he will not charge me to fix it if it is the wheel weights anyways he does work for me on the side I don't go through the dealer but it is a Nissan dealer and it only happens when going above 80 miles an hour I checked for nails in my tire and flat but there was nothing

You'll be ok

No way the spacers broke. More than likely a wheel weight. It's happens

Element600ee 11-26-2014 03:47 PM

do you have oem or aftermarket wheels ? if there aftermarket he could have lost or forgot a hub ring . ive seen this a hundred times people dont pay attention to the rings . if not more than likely he knocked off a wheel weight .

jamesj1996 11-26-2014 03:59 PM

Oem

SouthArk370Z 11-26-2014 04:57 PM

I'm with everybody else - sounds like a wheel out of balance. Since the steering wheel isn't shaking (and you had the rear worked on recently), probably a rear wheel. Tell your mechanic/buddy to be more careful from now on. ;) It sounds like it's a fairly large imbalance so I'd keep speeds to a minimum (parked, if possible) until you can get it fixed.

I would think a sticky would fall off before the clamp kind......but anything is possible.

jamesj1996 11-26-2014 10:10 PM

Yeah I just hope Nothing's wrong with my spacers also when I'm rolling slowly I feel like I have a flat it's like an up and down motion a little bit that's prob the balancing ?

Element600ee 11-26-2014 10:32 PM

it sounds like your wheel isnt tight . check them now . if you can feel it going slow he either left your wheel or your spacer loose . thats not good . check your wheels and spacers before you drive . 55 plus is a balance issue rolling at a slow speed is deff something more serious .

If it is happening at a crawl then it's not the balance. Wheel/spacer may not have been mounted properly.

jamesj1996 11-26-2014 11:20 PM

its not that noticeable maybe im just feelings things but true vibration is only at 80 mph or above everything else is fine maybe its just the roads i get paranoid sometimes

jack up the car and shake each wheel to see if there is any movement or play. you can also spin the wheels and see if there is any wobbling.

You have to drop the wheel really hard to lose the stick-on weigh.

Just be careful. If the wheel weigh fell off, you can simply balance it. it can be very dangerous going 80mph if something is loose.

Then what's the question? He admitted you might have lost a wheel weight. Go get the wheel re-balanced. I wouldn't spend a second worrying about any other possible reason until you've done that.

re

idk chuck im sorry man i get paranoid! damnit

jamesj1996 11-27-2014 11:16 AM

the guy above just said his h&r were screwed up so that made me worry bro

Chuck33079 11-27-2014 11:18 AM

Just relax. Go check the torque on the lugs. If that's fine, take the wheel to be re-balanced. There's about a 99% chance of that being the cause of the problem, especially since the mechanic flat out said he could have knocked off a wheel weight. There's no sense in getting worked up about what else it could be until you've eliminated the most likely possibility.

If you're really concerned about the outside chance the hub ring broke off, go take off the wheel and look. Nothing's stopping you from going out and eliminating that possibility yourself.

Your car came with both a jack and the necessary tool to remove and reinstall the wheel.

The H&R hub ring broke off when ther wheels were being changed over. The hub ring broke at the collar. Prior to changing the wheels, there was no issue. As the wheels were remounted, the hub collar did not allow for a flush mount, hence the wobble.

Replacing the spacer obviously fixed the problem.

Your issue may be totally related to the weights being off. Don''t panic till you check it out!

jamesj1996 11-29-2014 11:52 AM

update:
just got a chance to drop it off today...when driving today it happened at 55-60 mph. ill know by tonight whats wrong with it. scariest drive ever . praying its just wheel balancing and not spacers messed up

Chuck33079 11-29-2014 01:08 PM

What did the spacer look when you took the wheel off? You'd have noticed immediately if it was messed up.

jamesj1996 11-29-2014 01:47 PM

i didnt get a chance to do that

jamesj1996 11-29-2014 01:49 PM

it snowed more so i really couldnt do it its at the dealer now my buddy is looking at it

6MT-Z34 11-29-2014 02:22 PM

Summer tires, this past few days have been cold u need winter tires

fryzia23 11-29-2014 08:46 PM

Improper parking brake adjustment could cause the whole car to shake. If it was adjusted too tight the rear parking brake shoes will always make contact and once get overheated it will cause nasty shimmy/vibration like symptoms.

jamesj1996 11-29-2014 11:36 PM

update: the wheel just wasnt balance he fixed it and drove it on the highway and everything was fine thank god :)

jamesj1996 11-29-2014 11:36 PM

thanks to everyone for the help though if this happens again i will deffinitly keep what all of u said in mind
