Volks...where are their 2 and 3 peice wheels at??
I got into modding back in 06' right in the middle of the sf challenge, GTV, GT30, GTC and so on gen of volk wheels.
Am I the only one curious about where the hell they all went? Maybe Im out of the loop but I recently just ordered a set of work wheels and didnt even have to bother looking at volks because all their 2 or 3 piece wheels are discountined and they havent made a new gen. of them. Just curious if Im the only one or if someone has some insight. |
Rays realized that people barely bought multi-piece wheels from them as their monoblocks are THE most popular ones. That's where the SSR and Work Wheels comes into picture, their multi-piece wheels are beautiful and strong.

hard to believe that since the last gen. they made are all over the internet. They were nearly the most popular wheel to buy around 2005-2009. I can only go off my experience on the forums, not like I can see their sales numbers.

This is actually a really good observation!
They haven't had a multi-piece wheel for a very long time. I suspect they weren't selling well and they decided to phase them out |
If orders don't justify keeping a mold around, they will eventually trash it. Let's not forget that Japan is a very small country and space is crucial. Molds for wheels or jigs for exhausts are things that do take up lots of space.
Volk's bread and butter wheels are their Forged 1 pce and those wheels sell themselves. New color, engraving or sticker and people go crazy over them. I think that most of the popular Volk multi piece wheels in the 2005-2009 were two piece wheels IIRC. In the price range that they were at, I think people would rather buy a 3 piece wheel. |
