Vibration & Road Condition

I am running after market wheels with 9.5 front and 11 on the back. I noticed that sometimes I get a slight vibration on the steering and sometimes don't at around 70 - 80 mph. The only variable seems to be the fwy road condition. I was wondering whether it is normal? Thanks.

The wheels have been balanced recently and all have hub rings. Tires are all in good shape with even wear pattern. I just got the car so I don't have any baseline experience.

Is the vibration during braking? Do you have spacers?

No vibration during braking, only while i was cruising on the fwy. No spacers and have hub rings for the wheels. These are the Work wheels. So they are pretty decent wheels.

I know you stated balanced recently. But by who? Big wheels have a specific formula to use when balancing then smaller diameter wheels.

I'm sure you know this ,but having your alignment checked wouldn't hurt. Also check for worn suspension parts or leaking struts.

If you still have the OEM wheels/tires I would throw those on and see if it fixes the problem. Then you know it is a wheel/tire problem and not suspension/alignment

The type of pavement you're on has a lot to do with it. Smooth blacktop, rough blacktop, concrete etc. My Z reacts differently to each type. And the tire noise is different too. Love smooth blacktop.

HATE rough concrete.

I was thinking about the same as the vibration comes and goes depend on the fwy. I think these wide summer tires are also more sensitive to road surface condition as well.

Do you also get slight vibration on certain road surface?
