Weird noise coming from rear wheel drivers side
Ok so I've been having this weird noise lately coming from the rear drivers wheel. It's not to loud and I only really notice it when it echoes off a wall and it goes away when I'm driving at a higher speed. Not sure if it's a bad wheel bearing, tire, brakes or something else. Car drives perfect, brakes fine, no weird odors. Maybe you guys can pin point what it is. I'm going to jack up the car this week and let the wheels spin and see where it's exactly coming from.https://vimeo.com/110213006

Something caught in your brakes or around an axle?

wheel bearing noise will continue to resonate louder as speed picks up... eerie sound like a dc10.

i have the exact same problem.
have you been able to resolve or find out what it was? |
Sounds like a rock fell in between the rotor and the shield or caliper mount.

Nope, I've changed EVERYTHING, new rotors, pads, new hardware even bought a dial indicator to check on rotor/hub runout and everything is within spec. Rocked the wheel back and forth to see if the bearing is bad and it seems good to me. I even pushed the back plate and the noise is still there. Even adjusted the parking brake. It's definitely some point of contact with the rotor and not the brakes. I think I gave up trying to figure out what that noise is. I'm going to bring it to a mechanic and see what it is.

The car drives perfect with no steering wheel vibration and any other issues. It's just that damn noise that's driving me NUTS!

I had this issue, if you have spacers and installed studs. Tighten you lug nuts, when wheel rotates while driving it will shift making popping sound. Sometimes the studs aren't fully seated.
If you don't have spacers tighten them anyway and see if that was the issue. If not you may need to rebuild the caliper, one side may be sicking, common with our calipers as they heat up quickly and melt the rubber o rings. |
