TPMS and the cold
So it went from 50 to 32 this morning and I had to stop by the gas station to double check I indeed didn't have a puncture tire, well all 4 read 32 psi and after driving 19 miles I thought the light would go off as my previous rides but the light stayed on, is this normal on the rays oem tires/ any comments :driving:

I don't remember what the reset procedure. If no one else can tell you, it should be in the Owner's Manual or FSM. |

also 32 PSI is like right around where it sets off the light. i typically keep my tires at 32-35psi and my right rear seems to have developed a baby leak like 1 psi a wekk butttttt whenever it hits about 30 it'll set the light off. |
It's not normal and most likely the result of one of the TPMS units going bad. If the battery inside goes dead, that individual tire unit will not report and the TPMS warning light comes on. Or it could be the unit itself went out. In any case, if your Z is under warranty, the dealer should fix it. If not, try a tire dealer who has a TPMS reader- they might be able to figure out which unit is defective.
BTW- the TPMS unit is set to go on when 28 PSi or less is detected. |
Dropping 18deg (50-32F)in temps will lower your tire pressure a noticeable amount. My TPMS went off two weeks ago and all the tires were at 32, just fill them up to the tire pressure listed on your door and check them again in the first warm day of spring.

10 hours later when I got back in the car after work the light was still on, so I decided to stop by a place that deals w/ tires and I have been doing business with for years but unfortunately or fortunately they were busy so as I drove home the light went off and the pressure n the tires went up to 34 psi and the temp outside was 55 degrees....oh well can't complain. I will pump the tires to the correct psi tomorrow am which is when you're suppose to get an accurate reading , thanks for your thoughts

Gas has less pressure at a lower temperature... physics.
Just add another couple of lbs during the winter months and you should be good to go. |

A good rule to remember is that your tires will drop one psi for every 10 degree drop in outside temp. They'll be at their lowest pressure first thing in the morning because they've cold soaked overnight.
