Average miles to expect from OEM tires..
I have 12k miles on the OEM tires on my 2013 base with sports pkg. I do not track or do anything drastically different. I am just an aggressive driver on city streets and highways. How much can I expect?
I live in the lower Midwest. Winters do not see too much snow (about 12 inches each winter) but temps average between 20-45. If the OEM tires are summer tires, I am wondering if I should buy the Blizzaks or whether a good all season performance tire is the way to go. Suggestions/ recommendations? |
I personally got 28k off them, but shouldve changed them around 24. I drive spirited and here and there spin the tires and have fun. My fronts went way before the rears tho because of hard cornering I guess.
As far as the winter goes, they're horrible lol. Got caught in a snow storm one day and slid the whole way home, a 45 min drive took me about 3 hours. Get some blizzaks or avoid the bad weather haha. In wet they're great no complains, just snow. |

8-10k miles for me. i usually swap when tires are sub 3/32. some folks go bald... and crash and dont know wtf hit em..
|
36,200 and counting. I mostly drive like a granny but enjoy the occasional twisties. I'll be getting new tires in a couple of months.
|
Is it a better deal to have summer and Blizzaks or good all season tires in places like mine, lower Midwest, temps between 15-35 but not too much snow?

I bought mine with 12k miles and they had been changed already so I'm not entirely sure how the previous owner drove the car they were apparently elderly from what u was told. 12k or so for me

I have an AWD car as well and don't even trust that with all seasons...it's not about being able to get moving (that will always eventually be possible) it's about what happens when you step on the brakes...nothing stops in the cold like good winter tires |
My wife got 10K out of the stock RE050s with me beating on them during the weekends occasionally. Plenty of better options with as much grip and much better tread wear.

You drive like a granny and I drive like a pastor. |
20k to 30k is what you will probably get. I changed mine at the 23k mark. Rears were done and fronts had about 5k left.
|
Im currently still using my stock base wheels and my car has 36xxx miles. Gonna need new tires soon
|
I got about 28k out of my old REO50A's
If you keep up with your alignment, rotations, and tire pressures you can get a long tire life |
I got about 23K out of the OEM's, autocross, aggressive driving, rears went first.
Winter the summer tires are out, spend most of the time in GA, and I watch when I go North to Ohio with the Z, because the tires do no like the cold in the winter months |
Have a little over 21000 miles and they will be replaced next spring. Probably could get a few thousand more if I baby them, but not worth chancing it.
|
I do about 75% highway driving which gave me a lot longer life I think, but I ended up getting about 32k out of the stock tires. Rears were shot, probably could have gotten more out of the fronts but I wanted to get a full new set of PSS's

I got about 28k from the stock oem tires on my 2013 370z sport. A lot highway not tracked. Aggressive on the streets. Nothing ridiculous like burn outs or anything.
|
I have been looking for a post exactly like this. Got my oil changed the other day and Tech recomended new tires. took me aback as the tires on the Z have a little over 6k miles. No burnouts / no track / no autoX. car is my daily driver. The dealership i bought it from had new tires on it, bridgestone potenza - the s0603 nissan oem. have been told by several master techs/ nissan techs that its common on a 370z for new rears every 6-8k, but i see you guys getting 20k! any thoughts on this anyone? kind of at a loss. Will be replacing shortly but any kind of feedback would be much appreciated

EDIT: I saw you're in Columbia. Hey Neighbor! Yeah, I wouldn't be running the stock summer tires during winter in Columbia. One rainy day below 40 degrees and you might end up in a ditch. Let alone any snow, sleet (had to pick up people last year stranded in Columbia because of that one bad sleety day), or ice. I'd get a second set of winter tires... |
The roads were something i never considered, columbia is known for about as shitty a road as you can find in a college town. im at 3/32nds atm, will be ordering this week idk what as of yet. Howdy man! you ever make it round this ways? im in KC usually once a month, Aunt lives there. I have an old ford I DD when the weather gets crummy, but i have been caught in the rain several times. slipping in 2nd at 2k :driving:

Yeah, I come out that way every now and then (often passing through to get to St. Louis or Herman). I moved to KC August 2013 and I've been loving this city ever since! Best city I have ever been to or lived in, and that includes NY, Chicago, and ATL. I've got a Forester XT as a DD. It's a nice little thing with the right tires |
I love KC man - i used to spend alot of time goofing off there. They definitely over salt - i have been spraying the car down too much lately. I just cant seem to not drive her though. Forester XT's are sick man, i actually sell subaru's. Hard to beat a subaru AWD system + reliability. Yeah i mean i do alot of spirited driving, but more cornering and high end, not so much low speed dugs or burnouts.

20K rears were shot. Wife's car. Her old car was a Toyo Corolla. She doesn't drive like a granny but she doesn't race either. Fronts probably had a few more miles but I said change them all. I didn't want to run different tires. We replace with S-04's. Great tires.
I see people getting higher miles but they probably didn't have sports package. You can't rotate the tires on sports package. So 20k was the best we could squeeze out of rears. Fronts could have went another 5K. |

I got 17k and they were pure toast
|
I got around 27K out of the rears and I am still on the factory fronts with 33K miles. Mostly interstate driving. 104 miles a day.
