What tire pressure do you run on your daily Z?
Curious what tire pressure you guys use on a daily basis.
- Please, no special occasion pressures. - 370s only. I used to look at the recommended pressure and go with that. But some recent readings and interactions suggest that not everyone does that. I am sure this has been asked before but regardless of what you say the search function is worthless. Thanks. |
40Psi for me..
|
Do you notice any extra wear?
|
for me, i will stick with the psi listed for the car. i see no need for a street driven Z to have more or less in it at all. put too much in you can damage the tires and the suspesion, too less and you can damage the wheel along with really bad. now + or minus 1-3 psi is not a big deal but 5+ either way is not very good. but then again, it's your tires/car do what you want with it. you like replacing parts/tires then go ahead

i ran 35-37 on my PSS's and was showing thread on the inside shoulder at 15k miles on the danger zone of a blowout at any minute with decent rubber on the outside. so i swapped in spare rears to get me through the last 3 weeks of drive time last year. this year 32 on RE-11s and even with softer compound and drag runs they seem to be holding up better and idk how lol |

For streets, I use 30 front and 32 rear cold, driving on highway they're about 34 on all corners.

Since it's a poll, would these numbers be the same for all: Base, Sport and Nismo tires?
Not being a smart ***, I dont know. |
My tire gauge is crappy, think it's 36-ish warm. On 18's, daily driver.

the generic recommended psi is 35 though by nissan. |
For daily driving I run 38-40. Better fuel economy and I guess it would help some in the rain.
|
Before: 34,33 (F); 35, 34
After new rear tires installed: 35 all fours:tup: |
why are you running lower psi in the front?
|
This sounds bad, and it is, but I was relying on the gauges that they provides at the gas stations, obviously they are not accurate :ugh::o:facepalm:

hell, worst case just buy a 12v cigarette lighter air pump and a nice digital gauge and do it at home or watever. just keep the car running while you're pumping air not to drain the battery |
ive never tried this, but do bicycle tire air pump work on our cars? you know, the ones you do manually. LOL

I run 40 psi and no wear issues so far on my 14 nismo at 6k miles. Actually, my tire pressure light on the dash went on the other week and when I checked all my tires they were all at like 33psi. Not sure what the trigger is set to for the light to come on but it did... thought I had 1 tire that was lower pressure then the others but that wasn't the case.
For those that don't know...Tire pressures should be taken/filled when the tire is cold. |

i have 3 trusted gauges i use to verify caliberation from time to time. (one digital, two analog..?) |

Yeah Kenchan... good point. After I saw your post I was able to verify with other gauges I have that the calibration is spot on. Haven't checked this in a while but I feel better now that I did and it's in spec.
I use a Milton pressure gauge ( picture shown ). Still seems weird why at like 33 psi the TPMS kicked on. Once I filled it the light has been off ever since. Ah, I move on. :driving: |

Nice little digital tire pressure gauge I picked up off Amazon for $11. Rated #1 and a best buy from Consumer Reports.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o02_s00 BTW - I learned that your tire gauge should be kept inside (not in a hot or cold car) to give you the best precision and accuracy. |
I'm running 35 all around but was wondering if I should run a little higher on the Michelin PSS since they're softwall?
