Do I need a hub ring for my aftermarket wheels?
I just bought works vsxx step lips do I need hug rings? Does the 370Z have hub rings stock? Can I just use them? lol new with wheels and shizz
|
Hub rings go inside the centerbore of the wheel to center the wheel over your hub.
You should measure the centerbore of the wheels you have, if it is 66.1 then you wont need hub rings. If it is larger than you will need hub ring. If it is too small you'll need to get the wheels machined to open up the centerbore. Good luck! |
^Awesome Thanks for the info!

Now the real question. Aluminum or plastic?
Some would argue that the plastic will crack over time, others would say that without some prep, the aluminum will seize to the rim... |
if you're going to track a wheel with it, then aluminum due to heat.
if you're just streeting, then plastic (or composite) is fine. the wheels are lugcentric by design...meaning, those rings are there only to aid the installer to get the wheels centered up to the hub, it does not physically support the weight of the wheel like the factory hubcentric wheels. that said, i dont run centering rings on some of my aftermarket wheels. no vibration issues. |
I have always ran with hub centric rings installed. It helps when you're installing the wheels onto your car. But that's just me.
OP, on my VSXX's, I did install the rings. R.K. |
