Winter Tire Size

I have a 2013 370z Sport. I am running 18x8 for winter wheels. My question is how much of a taller tire can I run over stock. I can run a 245/50/18 thats 1" over in a Bridgestone WS80 or 225/60/18 that is like 3" over stock same tire. Or I can go to a SUV tire like the DM-V1 and do a 255/55/18 or 245/60/18 about 3" over. I am trying to get extra ground clearance.

Or you could just drive a different car. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what tire you put on the Z, it sucks in snow. I tried driving mine last year in the snow and it was an epic fail. If you have another car, just let the Z sit on snow days and if it doesn't and there's nothing on the ground hindering you from sliding all over the place, by all means drive it.

Not true. The Z is great in snow with snow tires (assuming it's no deeper than 4-5 inches).

That said, you should run as close to stock tire height as possible.

I ran some A8 tires (i think 255/45/19) or something. It was over 27". It was great

Did you have snow tires? If you drive any rwd in winter without snow tires it is going to be an epic fail. Plus a few bags of sand.

Why do you say that? I don't care if my speedo is a few mph off. I am looking for the extra clearance. I am also taking off the plastics in front (air dams).

the air deflector is held on by rivets.... just letting you know. it's removable but you will need to replace the rivets or get bolts/washer/nut. GL

the deflectors forward of the front tires are just 3 bolts each.

You could futz with VDC, ABS, or otherwise impair handling. Not to mention as you increase your ride height with a taller tire you also decrease fender clearance, which can lead to problems when turning or during suspension travel.

That's the size that I am running as well. 245/45/18 Pilot Alpin PA4 on the base wheels.

They are great for me in light-moderate snow.

They were great, compared to everything else on the road. Just can't expect the same performance in the dry (duh). But the Z can handle snow 4" deep with Blizzaks... just easy on those hills ;-)

Winter Setups

My previous post for others with living big snow experience:
I drive my Z daily - including through Chicagoland winters (25,k yearly mileage). I don't know what's "right", but I bought my first vette when I was 17 and drove it through the winter without 'fancy' winter tires back then. 25 cars later I'm in a Z and we have a ton of choices that are better than - 'do the best you can, and ask someone to give you a shove when you need to.'

Last winter I ordered a specialty set tires & wheels from TireRack. They fit the Sport brakes perfectly.
225/50R-18 Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60
255/45R-18 Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60
4 18x8 Sport Edition F10 Silver

I left SUVs behind at every stoplight.
