ive never had to do this on the literally dozens of aftermarket wheels ive
purchased in the past.

You'll also want to drop your transmission and swap out your final drive gear while you've got the car up. :ugh2: :p

I know the transmission has nothing to do with final drive, relax....

Hey man, if you're going to do something, do it right, yaknow? Wouldn't want him to regret forgetting a step when he is changing wheels.

 cool.

i recently got RE11's. i just prefer the rectangular sidewall of bridgestone tires vs the PSS and DW..both kinda roundish.

cooltoy 07-31-2014 04:10 PM

I remember you saying that. I guess i'll see if I like it or not. I can always change to different tire.

That floor jack will fit under your car?

axmea? 07-31-2014 11:15 PM

Hockey pucks please. That should be easy for you.

Just.

I am not sure a puck would fit along with it. There is maybe 1/2 inch clearance by the front wheel. Maybe I'll raise it some with the scissor jack and then slide it under?

dP3NGU1N 08-01-2014 12:12 AM

drive onto 2x4s instead

cooltoy 08-01-2014 01:07 AM

Good call.

dP3NGU1N 08-01-2014 02:18 AM

actually now that I think about, the scissor jack was made to allow you to change a tire anyway. Aslong as you do go one at a time and don't lift the car any more than you need to get the wheel off the ground you should be fine with just he scissor jack. It's not like you're getting under the car or anything. I just took all my wheels off to inspect something tonight and I just jacked up one section at a time without bothering to use jack stands. I don't think it's introducing any significant amount of risk aslong as you don't do anything stupid.

aszyd 08-01-2014 06:43 AM

I'll admit it, if I am just messing with the wheels or coilovers, I don't stands. I usually do them one corner at a time. With my suspension, I can get enough clearance to remove the wheel and still not be able to slide a stand under my car, even going in through the wheel well.

Although, it would suck if the jack failed while a wheel was off. I might not get hurt, but the car probably would.

cooltoy 08-01-2014 12:36 PM

Party is on hold. One rim came damaged.

Stupid UPS.

I knew it was going to be damaged as soon as he offloaded them. It is not much, some dents on the chrome lip, but I paid for new, I will have new.

kenchan 08-01-2014 01:55 PM

wow, that sucks, cooltoy. sorry to see. :(

did the store use heavy duty corrugated cardboard doubled up? ive never had such issues
buying wheels from tirerack. :ugh:

cooltoy 08-01-2014 01:58 PM

I can't say the packaging was as good as it could have been. Single layer of cardboard.

It's no big deal, they'll take care of me (I hope). Not the worst thing to have happened to me in my life.

soxfan69 08-01-2014 02:34 PM

That SUCKS!!!

yah, honestly that packaging looks pretty crappy... :ugh:
but oh well, hope your replacement comes in real quick.

cooltoy 08-01-2014 06:17 PM

Me too. The tire place is making a claim already.

I got the driver to acknowledge the damage right on delivery and he signed a statement for me. Tire store said that that wil speed up the process tremendously.

FairladyZ10PG 08-01-2014 07:01 PM

I'm kind of surprised that these didn't arrive in boxes

cooltoy 08-01-2014 07:12 PM

Me too.
