Tire opinion needed
Just looking for some thoughts. My OEM crapstones are starting to get a bit squirrely in the corners and need to get me some new tires. Since i drive year round was looking for a set of good AS wheels. One of the best ones I previously owned was the eagle F1 all season (not the assymetrical) but they discontinued that version so I was debating the Continental DWS but after reading mixed reviews on here got me looking again. On tire rack they show a new all season from Hankook
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....port%20Package now i know the Ventus V12 is a good summer tire and the survey reviews on this all season is ranked up ther with michelins. Any thoughts will be appreciated. i know not everyone likes all seasons but price/performance rating for this tire is pretty good

Contis, Ventus, PSS....all god tires i hear. I opted for the Potenza S-04s and in 1500 miles haven't had a reason to regret that, especially given the $800/set price tag. If price wasn't a consideration, I'd have paid the extra $400 and gone with the Pilot Super Sports.
Edit:sorry, I missed the all-season part. Never mind. Last edited by MacCool; 06-28-2014 at 11:39 AM. |

I'm curious what you decide. I'm heading in the same direction (towards A/S) after last winter. I'm at just over 13k with plenty of treadwear to go until this fall.
I've talked to some DWS Extreme owners (not on 370Zs) and they really like them, and so does one of our club members who now has them on his 300ZX TT after having them on a previous 350Z.

went with the pilot sport as3, got from discout tire direct 1185 w/road hazard warranty shipped plus a $70 rebate to boot. came down to not worried about snow and ice traction since i will just use my 4x4 truck if needed. wanted good wet/dry traction with cornering stability and these tested better with the goodyear f1 all season asymmetric a close second.

Good choice Steve. Don't think you can go wrong with Michelins.
Anxious to hear your impressions. I'm a still several months away from having to replace mine. Probably will come down to those, the Continental DWS Extreme AS or the Bridgestone Potenza 970AS.

Since my Z is my DD I opted for the Michelin A/S 3's when I ordered my new wheels. Hope to have them in a week or 2. The A/S 3's came out on top on the testing in Tire Rack. It may not have been the best in the snow but I was more concerned with wet/dry handling and just being able to use the tire in cold temps.

Thanks for the link. Appears the Michelins you guys chose is the way to go for all around best performance.

Just changed to Pilot Super Sports today, rear tyre 'upsize' to 285/35..[stock is 275/35],power is noticeable less...grip wise, still not so good yet, maybe it need to 'run-in'.

My Michelin PSS are "Grey" imported from USA[Made in USA],i think should be the same tires used by all of you....The Authorised dealer's tyres Made in Germany, but don't have 285/35-19.

I have the michelin pilot super sports. Not stock sizes though p265/35r19 and p305/30r19. I love them. The grip is amazing. The car is not daily driven so i only really cared about dry grip.

if i was going for a pure summer tire it would have been the PSS but since it gets cold here and i like to drive my Z year round (not in snow/ice) the PSS summer tires would have been like hockey pucks on the road when cold.
