I apologize up front for not being able to find the answer using the search button but here it comes anyway.
I have another set of 19" rays wheels which will be for the track alone, but I must drive them to the track as well. I want an R compound as opposed to my ZR Michelin PSS which lose quite a bit after 10 track minutes. I love them everyday but at the track they suffer. I have heard of others running 265/285 front/rear as stock sizes seem to not be offered in R compound. Price is not my issue as I only get between 6-7K miles out of a street set anyway at big bucks too. I would love some help from experienced Z drivers. ![]()

RS3
/thread (not really Carter, lol. But you have those, Nitto somethings, and the other ones... But you should get the RS3s unless the others are wayyyy cheaper)

Nitto NT05 I think?
Toyo R888 Hoosier A6 I don't have any experience with any of these. If Andrew says the RS3 are good, then there's your answer. As he mentions, I have also read they are generally a "best buy" when it comes to racing tires.

The RS3 tires have reviews similar to your own, especially regarding noise and needing warm up. EX: great tire for the price- tenacious dry grip on the track at HPDE events across the southeast very sticky, tires need to be hot to deliver best performance not as sticky in the wet as RE050s or PS2s, but much more economical, especially with track use though, after several track events, tire roar on the highway is terribly loud and noticeable consider going back to Michelin/Bridgestone re better ultimate grip in the dry and wet, and quieter operation for a daily driver, but these tires are of amazing quality for the price Another example: I use these tires for track day events only and they have been great. Although not the stickiest tire out there, they are pretty darn good. The price point, and good wear qualities makes them a great choice for tearing up the track with out emptying your pocket book.

You might want to get the rs3 that is on close out for 229 each. You have limited options at 19. Nt01 doesn't have sizes in that range. R888 sucks after the first couple heat cycles. Or you have to step to true slicks

Why would I not want true slicks (or one grove slicks) if they fit?

I guess it works if you live a few miles from the track, but not sure if i would drive it more than 20 miles. Remember every mile you put on it you decrease life of it

I wouldnt go with a hoosier a6, an autocross tire on a road course would be done in no time, the r888 and nitto nt01 from what i read are the same tire stucture but different company's, the nt01 ive used in 18"s and they are great, seemed as fast as hoosier and took heat and not much camber very well. the rs3 i run now for autocross and it is a great tire, same as the nitto really likes the heat. i really like the kumho xs but they arent making them anymore But they where a great track tire, lasted long, fast and when they corded it was the whole tire so it didnt seem like i wasted any tire, the next for me to try will be the bf-goodrich rival, very fast tire, used them on a few different autocross cars, decent price, but ive heard they wear fast.. just my 2 cents

I have decided to go with the Toyo R888 set for $725 in 265/35 and 295/30.
If I hate them I'll try some thing else. Thanks to all for the help. ![]() ![]() ![]()
