Cleaning sport rays
Hey guys,
So I just got back from buying some stuff at the local car shop and was curious before I start spraying stuff on my rims. Has anyone used Meguiars Hot Rims Aluminum cleaner? If you do not recommend this what would you use? Thanks |
You don't really need a rim cleaner if the wheels are new. Just use your normal car wash to clean them up, then seal them with a nice wheel sealant like Poorboy's Wheel Sealant. That will protect the rims for a good 2-3 months depending on conditions... makes cleanup a breeze.

Thanks for the quick response. I agree I will not be using any cleaners as the wheels are nice and new. But aluminum rim cleaner would be a viable solution to clean the rims in the future right?

Just picked up a 2009 with 19's rays and a couple of the rims have dark streaks of something but the clear coat appears to be intact. I tried the McGuire product above but no help. The clear coat seems intact and smooth when i run my finger but, the streaks are still there. Please advise what else to try.
The streaks look like you sprayed armor all or cleaner and forgot to wipe??? Thanks, Ian B |
You may have gone through the paint. Its black underneath the titanium looking finish.
If you are absolutely sure u have not used agressive cleaners try a little scratchx polish and see if the black goes away or worsens. You will know for sure then if that's oil or tar vs going through the paint. |
Well it was the previous owner and i just bought the car yesterday. Will try your advise on a small spot and see what happens.
Thanks, Ian B |
