rear tires are nearly bald (center to outer edge) Is this normal???
18500 miles, rear tires are nearly bald center to outer edge. Inquired at dealer and was scolded that I didn't read the owner's manual and get a 4 wheel alignment once a year.
Have owned several sports cars and never had the rear tires wear so poorly. Recommendations on tires? |

Mine that way after 370know and I had an alignment last year. Lowered with swift springs but still -2.2 camber in rear still in spec. Getting new rubber tommorow. Good luck

**** I got 17k miles on my stock tiers with 6 autox days, canyon runs, and a few drag nights at quail com stadium. Granted they weren't safe to drive in the rain near the end. But the rear tiers were bald from the center inward not the opposite like the OP. Get an alignment after new tiers.

Center outward??
Only way that could happen I'd think is very low camber and you constantly turn hard so your tires go way positive camber or your toe is really jacked up. Extremely toed out I believe? 18.5k isn't bad though haha. One more reason why the stock eccentric bolts suck! Can't change settings on a Z if the bolts are locked out and can't slip! Good thing I have them.

I have 29,600 miles with factory front tires. I changed my rear around 25k ish. Because I don't track my car, I just went with Hankook Ventus V12. It's probably one of the most decent yet affordable tires you can find in the market. Can't go wrong with Michelin pilot sport if you're looking for a performance/quality tire.

Sounds like a toe problem.. How long since your last alignment?

For it to wear from the center to the outer edge, you would have to running positive camber which is unheard of on these cars (nissan). Toe would not cause this issue. Get an alignment, something is not correct. The other option is that you are over inflated and taking corners pretty fast.

Had the alignment today.
Left rear was -2.4 degrees camber aligned to -1.9 degrees 0.22 degrees toe aligned to 0.17 degrees right rear was -2.1 degrees camber aligned to -1.8 degrees 0.05 degrees toe aligned to 0.12 degrees Dealer was very pleasant, had one of their senior mechanics come out and talk to me about issue. He said this is common with this car, get alignment every 12K miles and definitely get harder tires if not going to the track Ps...front barely needed adjustment left toe 0.03 to 0.08 degrees |
