Nismo wheel powder coat color STOCK

I am getting my Nismo rims powdercoated (due to damage, etc.) I want to stay with as close to stock as possible. Right now the powdercoating shop coated them with "wheel silver II" from "powder by the pound" and it looks WAYY too gray and not silvery enough. I saw something powdercoated "Bengal Silver" in his office that looked closer, but I am unsure now looking at pictures online...

Does anyone have any idea what would be the closest to stock out there?

how about hyper silver as in two stage paint, not powder coat...

I wanted something stronger than paint, plus I heard that the paint was insanely expensive. There has to be a powdercoat out there that comes close to this at least...?

OK so its down to "bengal silver" "crushed silver" or "anodized silver"

anyone have any experience with these powdercoat colors?

crushed silver (from Prismatic) is just a metallic silver. There will be no way to match it 100% with powder. Factory finish is liquid paint silver with acrylic powercoat clear.

I am just looking to get close as possible. Doesn't have to be 100%.

Out of those colors which looks best to you? That is your choice. Im guessing the color they are now probably isn't bad. The '13+ Nismo's are gunmetal now anyway.

kenchan 03-13-2014 11:53 AM

yah, how about going for a gunmetal powdercoat in this case so that your wheels dont look like fakes? lol :D

get the dark center caps too while you're at it i guess. mr.gurney has some nice picts of his nismos that were powdered gunmetal

on another note, ive been running my nismo wheels since summer of 2011. paint is fine. i put about 7k miles on them. all i use is QD and soft MF detailing towels to clean them.

Out of those colors listed the Bengal Silver looks to be a close match to stock on my computer monitor.

I've only seen them on my computer monitor as well. I'm gonna go with the Bengal silver but worst case scenario, anyone know how much it costs to get them painted stock color?

kenchan 03-13-2014 12:56 PM

i would check with your local wheel repair shop. the color itself is nothing really that special. its a popular hyper silver type color.

Thanks. I will look into it after I see how bengal silver powder turns out. If it isn't close enough for me I will have them paint them.
