Is this normal tread wear? - Conti DWS
Hello all!
New owner here and I wanted to check with more familiar owners with tread wear. I'm used to the rate and pattern at which the S2000s wear through tires but not so much with the Z. I purchased the car two weeks ago with Continental DWS (car was from Illinois) front and rear. The fronts are fine but the rears... thats another matter.... the car only has 17000 miles on it so I cannot attest to when the RE050As were removed but again it would have had to have been less that 17,000 and then these installed. What concerns me the most is I can still see the "D" and "W" wear markers clearly but the insides are showing threads. I have ordered a complete set of S-04s to be installed tomorrow (265/35 & 285/35 based on forum recommendations) but for those of you more familiar... is this normal or is there a toe/camber/inflation issue going on that I am not aware of? Thanks in advanced! - MULDER http://www.the370z.com/members/mulde...ure76344-a.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/mulde...ure76343-a.jpg |
Looks like you have excessive negative camber in the back. You might want to do an alignment.
Thats what I was thinking... but I didn't know if the rear's camber was adjustable on the Z. Is there a place on the forums where I could find the stock specs for alignment? I plan on getting that done tomorrow with the tire install.
are you lowered in any way?
then yea that might be a bit too much neg camber. and any good alignment shop will have the specs for your vehicle. just make sure you tell them its a sport model and not a base or nismo. (not that the nismo specs are much dif)
OK, will do. Its going to the Nissan dealership for install. Just for my own knowledge though.. do you happen to know the US camber specs?
it should be in your manual. if not do a little searching on the site.
fuct, i saw in another thread you had S04s. What kind of life did you get out of them and how were they?
yah toe angle is probably a tad too agressive.
my tires wear more on the inner than the outer treads as well. this is fairly common on our cars. |

and these are the best tires ive had on the Z since i got it. (especially for the price) |
Thanks osborn!
I was always a fan of bridgestones on my S2000s but never had the S04. I was stuck the past few days going back and forth between Conti DWs and S04s. Best I could determine was the S04 was going to be better at performing while the DW would be less so for comfort and longevity. Ultimately it came down to price. In stock spec the S04 was 800.00 and the DW was 856.00. In recommended spec via the forum (265/35 285/35) the S04 was 804.00 and the DW 926.00. That said I am familiar with Bridgestones and the way they behave so I don't feel uncomfortable going with them. |
