Offset help?

Not questioning just trying to learn. How come the stock wheels are 40 in the front and 35 in the back? Those are different, should they not cause a similar

How come the stock wheels are 40 in the front and 35 in the back? Those are different, should they not cause a similar issue? Is it because you want to keep the rear and front diameters similar?
