Rear Tire Issues!
Ok, so, yesterday I was driving, hydroplaned at about 10 miles an hour making a hard left hand turn. I was able to recover the car, however, not before it spun around and the rear tire hit a curb. The tire partially came off the rim, and I had to use the doughnut (man, does that thing look wierd on the back!) until this morning. Took the tire to a local tire shop, where they remounted the rubber to the rim, filled it up, balanced it, and away I was. Except for one or two small scratches, you cant notice anything ever happened. However, once on my way, I noticed that it sounds like a propeller airplane is coming from the right rear tire. It is a very annoying sound, that is worse between the speeds of 45-65 mph. I havent really noticed the car pulling, and other than the sound, it runs great. Anyone have any ideas? I am taking it to the dealership tommrow, however, was just curious if anyone actually knew what was up.
Thanks! |
sounds like a slipped belt to me but IDK...
|
possibly a loose glue on tire weight flapping.
|
Hopefully there are no noticable marks on the tire so the dealer will replace if new but you said there were small scratches???.Might be digging in your wallet for about $400..450????????
Hyroplaning at 10 miles an hour???Good luck with that one! |

Uh, Yeah! Warranty does not cover accident damage. Chances are something is bent, or you've trashed a wheel bearing.. |
hydroplane at 10MPH? I know the tires are wide, but, that sound a bit "out there" :)
Maybe you just left a car wash and the tires had soap on them (I did the same thing - once this car breaks loose, it REALLY breaks loose!) |

Could be one of the weights came off after it was balanced. Or, the tire was damaged enough that it just needs to be replaced.... |
Can you explain a little more of how you hydroplaned doing 10 mph? I'm just curious on the mechanics of a 10 mph hydroplane.

I was called into work after a huge downpoor (I work as a firefighter). There was a good 1.5 ft. of water on the ground, I wasn't going fast, I dont know how fast I was going, however, I was going down a steep hill and had to make a hard left. I downshifted, slowed, was midway through the turn, gave a little bit of gas, and the *** end swung out. I am not saying it was any fault of the car, as it clearly wasn't, it was my fault, I was just curious as to what the issue may be. Thanks all!

Tell me about this hydroplane experience you had at 10 mph also? You will need all the practice you can get explaining when you go to the dealer? So why not practice here with the guys!
I've seen a magician pull a rabbit from his hat but I doubt if you are David Copperfield!Richard Pryor ...maybe!Could also be a Cheech and Chong experience to!Thats a thought!C'mon come clean with the guys about this! In any event make sure you bring the checkbook with you tommorow. |
something tells me this 'hyrdoplane' incident was a 'traction control off, dump clutch, hard turn, look at me!, oh sh*t oh sh*t!!!" maneuver
haha jk |
or a flap of rubber on the inside is flapping about your control arms
|
Hydroplaning at 10MPH nice!!!!!!:icon18: I had that on my old 350Z it was the rim had to pay half my paycheck to get that corrected.
Good Luck. |
Have check for a broken belt in the tire.

Way to revive a very old thread.
