Wheels that fit 2014 base tires?

I've been searching for a few weeks now and having some trouble. I'm looking for wheels that fit my stock tires off of my 2014 base model. I'm a struggling college student so my budget is kind of low lol so I'm looking for something under a grand if possible.
Stock tires are 225/50 18 245/45 18

I know people are gonna say search the forum and what not so I'm letting everyone know I am lol
Thanks in advance.

It would be any rim with exact same width and diameter as your current rim.

I know that but having trouble finding a set lol I'm trying to see if people know of any exact sets, brands. And maybe some pics

Why not wait until you can afford new wheels and tires so you can go bigger than 225/245? This car needs more rubber than that.

I was thinking about that but I keep remembering that I have those tires which are brand new....only 800 miles on them

Chuck33079 02-04-2014 12:17 PM

Right. Drive on them until they're bald, and then buy appropriately sized wheels and tires.

If I sold the tires could I get any good money for them? Like is there a market for them on here?

Chuck33079 02-04-2014 12:19 PM

I doubt it. Thay're too narrow. Why not just wait until you can do it right?

I can vouch for waiting. Either save up and get some brand new wheels and/or tires. Or look in your area for some used. I guarantee you once you get the mod bug you're going to want to go wider than 225/245 width.

I, myself found a set of volk te37 19x9.5 19x10.5 for $1000 in my area so I'm pretty optimistic on finding deals. If you absolutely cannot wait your best bet would be to look at some XXR's or maybe some Varrstoen's or other replica wheels. Either way I would recommend to wait it out. Good luck on the search!

:iagree:

I was going to post the same thing, but changed my mind.

kenchan 02-04-2014 01:45 PM

hey cooltoy, you ever actually get wheels for your car? or are you like all talk and no go? :ugh:

cooltoy 02-04-2014 01:55 PM

LOL.

I don't actually have a car yet. We'll be ordering at the end of this month. And due to your great advice, the wheels will be ordered.

I am just not sure if it is better to use up the tires on the stock wheels, then sell the stock rims, or buy the new wheels + tires and sell the stock rims with stock tires.

i keep 2 wheel sets at all times on my cars. this way you can roll your wheels in loose to the tire store to get them re-wrapped later. (no need for them to impact the hell out of your lugs and scratch your wheel lug bores, etc).

i also remove the center caps, centering rings, valve caps, weights before taking my wheels in for tire re-wrap. :)

cooltoy 02-04-2014 02:43 PM

Hmmm. Something to consider.

Except that I will probably only change the tires once every 6-7 years, since I drive my sport cars only 5 month out of the year. I have a RAV4 for the winter.

i put about 3k miles a year myself. my Z only has like 14K miles and this is her 5th year of ownership. :)

for me, i dont have time to not drive my Z on a nice weekend so this is just a back up plan in case i encounter a blow out or watever as well. it's nice to know you have a spare set if anything happens.

if i only had one set, i would get one extra rear wheel with tire wrapped. 99% of the time i get flats on the rear tire from the front tire kicking up a nail or something. with asymetrical tires, you can use it on both left or right side. :D

 I got you beat! (finally for once!) I put about half of that on my first year of ownership :stirthepot:  :wtf2:

PS - to the OP, you're a 'struggling college student' but yet you have a brand new 2014 Z?

Might I suggest you trading in the Z for a Sentra/Altima/Juke and then after college jump back into the Z after you're not struggling anymore?

Haha my mom is paying for it for my last year of school and once I graduate she's signing it over to me. Early grad present is a year of payments and insurance since I play baseball for my school so I have no time to work other than summers and winters.

I'm just impatient. Probably have to wait though I guess

Chuck33079 02-04-2014 05:42 PM

If I were in your situation I wouldn't spend a dime modding my car until I graduated and got a steady paycheck.

I'll have to end up waiting unless something nice shows up. Seems like the best think to do from everyone's opinions. The mod bug hit me once I dropped off my eclipse and left in the Z lol

Chuck33079 02-04-2014 05:46 PM

Honestly, go spend your time and disposable income learning to drive the car. It's a lot more car than an Eclipse and it's RWD. Go AutoX the car. It's fun and you learn a lot.

I split up what I make over summer and winter saving 75% and the rest goes towards free money so I have some to spend plus a refund check from my school from left over scholarship money.

My brother and I are already planning to do some auto cross this summer when I'm out of school with the Z and his FRS.

Perfect.

Honestly if you have to get rid of the stock wheels buy a set of the sport Rays. You can pick up a set with tires around $1k. Then save your money for a real diff and decent brakes.

I don't have to get rid of them. I am just trying to save money in the long run from switching winter and summer tires back and forth.
