We all know that well placed rubber can prevent rash in many instances. I was wondering if the advice I received before going off to college applied to my wheels.

That is, will a wider tire help prevent curb rash by extended past the edge of the rim (I don't want to have to pay for a rim job)? I ask specifically in regards to the 19" Rays. Will a beefy tire help spare my wheels from curb rash?
