Recently purchased a set of aftermarket wheels and acorn/tapered type lug nuts. Sold my stock sport wheels and lug nuts to another member. It has just now occurred to me that if I have a flat tire, the acorn/tapered style lug nuts will not fit the spare wheel/tire ... so I'd be up s**t creek without a paddle. So went to the dealership and bought a set of the stock wheel lugs (5) and wrapped them up and taped them to the inside of the spare. Just thought I'd mention this since I suspect it applies to others with aftermarket wheels. Also, I carry a 1/2" drive strong bar and 19 mm socket in the car in case I need to remove the wheels. Since the stock lug nuts are 21 mm, I also threw a spare 21 mm socket in with the stock lug nuts to make things easier if I ever need to install the spare.

This has already been discussed on one of the threads on OEM lugs and aftermarket wheels. I had H&R studs installed with 25mm spacers after I bought the car 6 yrs ago. Bought AG wheels the following year and left the longer studs on. What I've done since is I kept a set of 5 OEM lugs along with a spacer stored in the trunk just in case I need to use the spare.

a bit off topic but this thread got me to go and try to find what i had as a spare as well as locks and tools to effect a roadside change to spare .well what a education a gorilla must have installed the oem base tires, rims and locks. my impact gun was not strong enough to budge his asshatchery . i also broke the sidewall of the 7/8 inch 6 point deep thinwall socket that will need to be replaced with the impact version. i found that i have the nuts/locks with the spin washers attached and the fitment to the wheel is correct .base 18 inch oem wheels. i will have to get a monster breaker bar and a new above mentioned socket to keep with the spare tire. Question what is the proper dry torque value for the washer type nuts/rim .

Try metric instead of imperial next time
![]() Proper lug nut torque is 85 ft-lbs.
